Nederlands Al een aantal decennia evolueert het internet met een grote versnelling. Met deze versnelling wordt alles met elkaar verbonden. Dit gaat niet alleen over mensen die van over de hele wereld met elkaar kunnen communiceren via sociale media en video calls, ook toestellen worden meer en meer met elkaar verbonden. Dit is duidelijk te zien aan de opkomst van IoT en Smart Cities. Deze verbindingen versturen ook heel veel data die niet altijd voor de buitenwereld bedoeld is. De logische vraag is dan: “Hoe zit het eigenlijk met de veiligheid van deze data?”. Dit is de vraag waarop Cyber Security het antwoord probeert te bieden. IEEE Student Branch KU Leuven Campus Brugge organiseert op 15 november een seminarie waarbij het topic van Cyber Security in de spotlight wordt gezet. Er wordt verteld hoe we ons kunnen beschermen tegen gevaren op het internet en welke technologieën er hiervoor worden ontwikkeld. Dit event staat open voor studenten en docenten van onze campus, maar ook voor mensen uit de bedrijfswereld, alumni-leden en andere geïnteresseerden. Het seminarie wordt in het Engels gegeven.    Sprekers Renaat Vandelanotte (CEO of Pilz Belgium) Renaat is CEO van Pilz Belgium. Hij vertelt over wat de consequenties waren na de cyberaanval op zijn bedrijf in 2019. Vincent Naessens (DistriNet, KU Leuven - Technology Campus Gent) Vincent is een geassocieerde professor bij DistriNet Research Group, KU Leuven – Technologiecampus Gent. Eén van zijn topics is het onderzoek naar het ontwerpen van veilige applicaties. Op het event vertelt Vincent over welke gevaren zich kunnen voordoen aan de hand van enkele praktische voorbeelden. Daarnaast wordt er besproken wat de grootste uitdagingen zijn voor in de toekomst. Cristian Iordan (Centre for Cyber security Belgium) Cristian is Project Manager bij het Centrum voor Cyber Security België. Hij houdt zich voornamelijk bezig met de implementatie van de Nationale Cyber Security. Tijdens zijn talk zal Cristian het hebben over wat Europa doet om zich te beschermen op het wereldwijde net.     English For several decades now, the internet has been evolving with great acceleration. With this acceleration, everything becomes connected. This does not only include people from all over the world being able to communicate with each other through social media and video calls, but devices are also becoming increasingly connected. This is proven by the rise of IoT and Smart Cities. These connections also send a lot of data that is not always meant for the outside world. The logical question then becomes, "What about the security of this data?". This is the question Cyber Security tries to answer. IEEE Student Branch KU Leuven Campus Brugge is organising a seminar highlighting some topics on Cyber Security on November 15th. It will tell how we can protect ourselves from dangers on the Internet and what technologies are being developed for this purpose. This event is open to students and teachers from our campus, as well as people from the industry, alumni members, and other people who are interested. He will also discuss the biggest challenges for the future. Cristian Iordan (Centre for Cyber security Belgium) Cristian is Project Manager at the Centre for Cyber Security Belgium. He is mainly concerned with the implementation of National Cyber Security. During his talk, Cristian will talk about what Europe is doing to protect itself on the global net.
