Impact through Technology and Entrepreneurship
KU Leuven - Brugge Spoorwegstraat 12, BruggePeople have a big impact on the world, and this impact can be either good or bad. Think about pollution from cars and big factories, or the huge piles of waste we create every year. Are there any solutions to these problems? That is what the three companies at this event are all about. They are using their technology to make a positive impact on the world. On Thursday, February 22nd, The IEEE Student Branch KU Leuven Brugge & Gent, along with ENTR8000 and Turbo, is hosting a panel discussion with these three companies on Impact through Technology & Entrepreneurship. They will talk about how they are making a difference, whether it is in the environment or society, using their innovative ideas and technology. After the event, there is a chance to connect with others during the reception. Everyone who is interested is welcome to attend the event, but registration is required. We are already looking forward to it! This event will be in English. Speakers Genvision is an international company that aims to counter CO2 emissions worldwide. With the support of KICK, Genvision has grown into a successful company with an office in New York. To compensate for CO2 pollution, companies can purchase a certain area of forest. Genvision uses AI to determine how much CO2 an area of forest can absorb. Movias optimizes traffic flows and transportation using their technology. This optimization not only helps reduce CO2 emissions, but also has the potential to save lives by for example enabling traffic lights to prioritize emergency vehicles such as ambulances. ClimateCamp has developed an online software platform that companies can use to map their CO2 pollution. ClimateCamp aims to help companies in the food sector, more specifically breweries, to reduce their carbon footprint. Primus, Haacht, and Trappist beers Westmalle and Lindemans are among their regular customers. Recently, PepsiCo started using their product too!
