Like all great years, this year, unfortunately had to come to an end.

Frank Herbert couldn’t have said it better when he said “there is no real ending. it’s just a place where you stop the story.” With the end of the academic year, The IEEE UOB SB Branch took a moment to celebrate the wonderful year they’ve had and humbly showcase their accomplishments and speak up about what’s coming ahead for the student branch as a whole.

Attended the ceremony a number of members that were to be awarded for their efforts and interactivity with the student branch and their fellow members. What made this ceremony even more special, Faculty of the electrical and electronics engineering department, among which were Dr. Isa Qambar (Bahrain Section founder) Dr. Mohab Mangoud (Branch counselor) and Dr. Sanaa Mansoori (the head of the department and a number of senior members of IEEE as well like our beloved Dr. Maamer Talib, were also a huge part of the ceremony.

The chair of the branch and the Vice Chair, Bassem Al Meleegy and Omar Al Dirini gave what some might call a  sentimental speech discussing the hardships and obstacles the branch encountered and successfully passed to get where it is today. Bassem also said said his goodbyes as the upcoming elections will bring a new chair to the table and hoped that with the years to come, the branch will continue to flourish and blossom and go up the ladder of success.

The awarding ceremony was then in order, students, doctors, lab technicians and anyone who helped get the student branch to where it was, were awarded for their efforts and the lucky ones got to walk away with IEEE UOB Merchandise.

And to end this year on a hopeful tone, I bring up Mitch Albom’s words, “Every ending is a beginning. We just don’t know it at the time.”

See you next year…
