Student chapter History

In August 2023, Professor Héctor Terran, advisor to the Student Branch Unisimon, called on systems engineering students to establish a Computer Society chapter at Simón Bolívar University. Twelve students accepted the challenge and embarked on a remarkable journey, despite facing many obstacles and difficulties in attracting members.

The first female student to join IEEE took on the role of chapter president, supported by the vice president and secretary, who also embraced the challenge. Although early events saw low attendance, two curious attendees became key members, taking on the roles of Webmaster and Treasurer.

Thanks to the dedication of the entire team, within the first year, Computer Society Unisimon grew to over 50 active members, participating in various activities and competitions.

We seek to promote effective and collaborative communication among members, creating a space where they can share knowledge, ideas and experiences. Through activities, workshops and events, we aim to inspire young people to explore and make the most of the opportunities that Computer Society membership offers, preparing them for a digitally connected and empowered future.

vision

Our vision is to be a community that promotes the personal and professional development of our members. We strive to cultivate lasting connections and contacts that transcend beyond the community, exploring opportunities for continuous growth and learning. We seek to be a space where what is learned and the projects that take place within the society are of great value to our members' professional lives in the future. We focus on building a strong network of support and collaboration, where each member can share with other students and professionals in the field to reach their full potential and contribute to the growth and advancement of the student society.
