IEEE TryEngineering STEM Grant Program

The grant funding is available to support implementing an IEEE pre-university program (ie. materials, venue fees, supplies). Members are encouraged to review resources, events, and programs at tryengineering.org.

IEEE organizational units may apply for various levels of funding as noted above. Organizations that are not a division of IEEE are not eligible for funding.

IEEE TryEngineering STEM Champion

The IEEE STEM Champion Program was developed to recognize IEEE volunteers for their contributions to pre-university STEM education and to build a community of pre-university IEEE STEM outreach volunteers. The program resides under TryEngineering.org and works in partnership with the Pre-University STEM Community. All active IEEE Members are invited to submit an application during the open window to be considered as an IEEE STEM Champion. The applications are reviewed and those who meet specific criteria are selected. Champion applications are reviewed and additional Champions selected annually.

Pre-university stem tryengineering training

Volunteer Training

These courses are delivered to you through the IEEE Learning Network Volunteer Training site. We open the course once a month for new volunteers to register. Once you sign-up you will be added to the course roster at the beginning of the month and you will receive an email to alert you.

Getting Started

This course is an introduction to Pre-University STEM outreach– it explains why STEM outreach is so important and features the TryEngineering resources including the lesson plans, volunteer STEM Portal, and all the essentials needed to get started and effectively engage in quality STEM outreach.

STEM Pedagogy

This course is an introduction to Pre-University STEM outreach– it explains why STEM outreach is so important and features the TryEngineering resources including the lesson plans, volunteer STEM Portal, and all the essentials needed to get started and effectively engage in quality STEM outreach.

Next Level

This course explains the improvement process of programs, identifies opportunities for improvement and gives examples of good practices of Pre-University STEM activities. Continuous improvement of Pre-U STEM programs involves a cycle of planning, implementation, assessment and evaluation.

Digital Tools

PreU STEM Outreach: Digital Tools course is an introduction to digital tools. There are many kinds of digital tools, and they are all used for different purposes — tools to manage and assess learning, develop skills, and cultivate sensemaking. In this course, we will explore the power of simulations for STEM outreach to cultivate sensemaking and deep content understanding.
