Privilege is not owned by all individuals. Privilege has many types and we can find them around us. Examples of privilege are talent, born of rich people, or it can be related to social identity. Many think that privilege is the key to a person’s success. This is wrong! Privilege doesn’t guarantee success, but increases the chances of achieving it compared to others who don’t have it.
When viewed from the perspective of other people who don’t have privileges, the matter of privilege seems very unfair because those who have privileges such as achievement live more easily than other people. Even though such harsh facts are real, we must be able to compete with others. We must remember that having special privileges doesn’t necessarily win the competition.
There are several tips that we can do to overcome our insecurity of the privileges of others:
