About IEEE WIE

IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) is the largest international professional organisation dedicated to promoting women engineers and scientists. The mission of IEEE WIE is to facilitate the recruitment and retention of women in technical disciplines globally. IEEE WIE envisions a vibrant community of IEEE women using their diverse talents to innovate for the benefit of humanity.

The IEEE WIE Maynooth Student Branch Affinity Group is part of the IEEE WIE UK and Ireland Section and aligns with the goals and values of IEEE WIE.

Our Affinity Group focuses on student members of IEEE who want to actively support and uplift women in engineering and science through organising and participating in departmental activities. We strive to achieve the following objectives:

  • Supporting and enhancing the career development of women in engineering and related disciplines at Maynooth University.
  • Promoting the involvement of women in IEEE WIE Maynooth Student Branch events, serving as inspiration and role models for their peers.
  • Encouraging leadership among women students in departmental projects and research initiatives.
  • Increasing membership in the IEEE WIE Maynooth Student Branch to foster strong personal and professional networks for women in technical fields.
