Inauguration Ceremony

The Inauguration Ceremony of the IEEE Dibrugarh University Student branch took place on the 2nd of May 2023 from 2:00 pm IST at DUIET Mini Hall. The event took place in the presence of all the invited dignities of the reputed university members of the IEEE Kolkata section, IEEE Kharagpur section, Honourable Director of DUIET, faculty advisors of IEEE Dibrugarh Univ Student Branch including all student branch members and spectators. The Inauguration event commenced with the lighting of a lamp by our respected Director of DUIET Dr Mukul Chandra Bora Sir with a group of dignitaries of our institution, in the presence of all the invited dignitaries and guests, followed by Ganesh Vandana. Dr Bhargabjyoti Saikia, our faculty advisor of IEEE DU SB, gave the inaugural speech by mentioning the possibilities and opportunities for Dibrugarh Univ Student Branch students. The guest of honour, Prof. Chinmoy Saha took the platform to make us aware of the innovation in the field of space science and hence made us curious about that field. He also talks about his journey and how IEEE helps him to reach the place where he is currently in. Then, the second guest of honour Prof Nuno Borges Carvalho joined us from Portugal google meet, who is currently the chief of the MIT Society of IEEE. He was pleased by the effort and congratulated our student branch on its establishment. The microphone was transferred to Dr MC Bora sir, who speaks about the possibilities for invention and motivates our student branch team for our upcoming events. Our student branch received high praise and encouragement during the interaction with Prof. Iti Saha Misra. Her encouraging words and well wishes left our participants feeling exhilarated and motivated. However, for Prof. Mousiki Kar and Prof. Sarbani Roy, we weren’t able to incorporate the time allotted by IEEE Dibrugarh Univ Student Branch. Nevertheless, we greatly appreciate their willingness to participate and hope to collaborate with them in future. Mr Pallav Kr. Gogoi, give invaluable insights on Technical Education for all “A pledge to achieve UN’s SDG 4” and Mr Anup Sarmah shared his contributions to the successfully launched and implementation of the “E-huts” project. His invaluable contribution, leadership and technical abilities have been a source of inspiration and guidance to the team, and we look forward to working with them on our future projects. The brainstorming session with Mr Vishwajit Nandi, who is also an alumnus of DUIET and currently working as a GPU simulation Engineer at Intel Co., was a great success where he shared valuable insights which refer to his journey and he seems pleased by the enthusiasm shown by the volunteers. His valuable words serve as a road marquee for our journey as digital engineers. Then, our new volunteers shared their joy of volunteering after joining the student branch. They mentioned the experiences and knowledge that how we can make a difference, build a sense of connection and community and the professional benefits to our well-being. Volunteering is a wonderful way to find happiness and fulfilment while also helping others. In the end, Mr Parismita Gogoi (our Faculty Counselor) offered a vote of thanks to all our guests of honour. She thanked all the guests and participants for gracing the occasion with their solemn presence. She also thanked Mr Pankaj Konwar for providing all kinds of facilities to conduct our Inauguration Ceremony in the DUIET Mini hall.
