From Maxwell to 5G and Beyond: The Evolution of Wireless Communication
Through Google MeetOn the 16th of April 2024, an exciting virtual session on "From Maxwell to 5G: The Evolution of Wireless Communication" was conducted by IEEE MTT-S SBC Dibrugarh University from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM (IST). The session drew a large audience, including all members and university students. Dr. Taimoor Khan, assistant Professor from the National Institute of Technology, Silchar, gave an informative presentation on the above discussed topic. He started by explaining the basics, introducing the famous Scottish physicist, James Clerk Maxwell covering the relationship between electric & magnetic fields. Dr. Taimoor also highlighted the first demonstration on the feasibility of wireless Power Communication. Further he talked about the contributions of scientists like Michael Faraday along with Maxwell in the electromagnetics domain. He also took the audience through the importance of Maxwell's equations discussing its key aspects. Additionally, Dr. khan explained the radio frequency spectrums and explained the evolution of 5G technologies, including Future Satellite Communications. The audience was introduced with a detailed explanation of various applications of Magnetostatics. The session was engaging, and during the Q&A, participants asked questions for a better clarity of the discussion to the speaker, who provided clear and thoughtful answers making the session interactive and more valuable for the attendees. Further, the session was concluded with a vote of thanks.
