SIH Internal Hackathon 2024

The SIH Internal Hackathon 2024 was organized by the IEEE Student Branch GBPIET, as a 2 day programme. There were total 24 teams from the college registered for the internal hackathon. The hackathon was scheduled from September 4th to September 5th. It started at 10:00 am wherein teams were to present their PowerPoint presentations.
The teams were already made aware of the rules and regulations to be followed. The judges from different field of expertise were present. After each presentation, the judges asked questions related to the problem statement and the project domains chosen. Simultaneously, the teams were awarded marks according to the specified judging criteria. The participating teams then awaited for the results which were released on September 6th.

Interview for IEEE Recruitment (“Empowering Innovation, Connecting Minds”)

The session began with the members introducing themselves and their desired posts . There was a briefing about the various positions and their significance in efficient functioning of the club . The students were then asked to introduce themselves in a paper and mention their desired position, their skillset and why they are suitable for the position .

Following were the Interview Highlights:-

• The first round of interview began and the candidates were sent to the interview panel in groups of 4. They were asked about the desired position as and how they would contribute towards club .

• The second round of interview began and the students had to compete with their peers for the position and had to differentiate themselves from the other members to grab the position they were aiming at.

• Queries were resolved of the candidates and feedbacks about their performance were given by the Core Team.

CONCLUSIONS: Overall, the event was a success. We had good strength of the attendees. Great response was recorded and it was a healthy interactive session. Results of the Recruitment session are to be disclosed soon.
IEEE RECRUITMENT SESSION

The interview session was conducted on 14th October 2023, Saturday. The purpose for the conduction of the session was to recruit volunteers from 2nd year graduation course to learn the management and handling of the responsibilities as an IEEE member.
The recruitment session was based on the Google form response circulated earlier and the interview round.
The session was coordinated by the following members of the IEEE student's branch:

WORKSHOP ON DESIGN AND SIMULATION ON EV

A workshop was conducted on Design and Simulation of Ev on 12th August 2023 at Electrical Department where the students took keen interest to understand the process of Electric Vehicle. This workshop was conducted under IEEE by the Branch Coordinators from Electrical Engineering Department and were assisted by IEEE volunteers Anurag Joshi and Navtej Chaudhary who have deep knowledge regarding the Manufacturing Simulation of Ev . Along with EV Design the students in the workshop were taught how to use Matlab and why do we use Matlab as brief Introduction to EV was given to the students by Navtej Chaudhary a EE Third year students and regarding the simulation, Design & Working of Matlab was explained thoroughly by Anurag Joshi a EE Third year student .Many problem that can occur in EV were discussed in the workshop .The students of various branches were involved in this workshop. The event was managed & organized by Branch Coordinators. CHETNA KANDPAL and ANTRIKSHA SAKLANI EE Third year students and the workshop was a great success.

Quiz and Logo Making Competition

Aptitude is basically an innate, learned or acquired ability of an individual to perform certain task. Aptitude test help to round out students profile which is useful in seeking academic and career guidance.To empower the student with the essential indicator ,an Aptitude assessment was conducted by the Society of Electrical Engineering on 2nd october 2022.The time of the competition was from 3:000pm to 5:00pm.
Students from 2nd and 3rd year of the department participated jointly on the event. The level of questions was moderate including few questions from the basic electrical as well. The winners include Savan Kumar (3rd year) secured first position, Mayank Panwar (3rd year) on second position and Divyanshu Chauhan (2nd year) secured third position respectively.
fter the quiz competition there was a logo making competition organized in which Amisha Negi (3rd year) secures first position and Vansh Saini (3rd yr) was the runner up.
The main objective of the Aptitude test is to develop the basic knowledge which helps the UG students for the preparation of CAT, IIT JAM, Gate and other interview examination. The event was successful by the efforts of the organizing IEEE students and SEE (Society of Electrical Engineering) members.

ENGINEER’S DAY

Engineer's Day was celebrated on 15th September as birth anniversary of Dr.M Visvesvaraya,a true gentlemen,one of the greatest engineers and Bharat Ratna recipient.The celebration of the same was done 15th Sept 2022 at G.B. Pant Institute of Engineering and Technology by conducting a webinar on Electrical Switch :testing and commissioning and Mr.Rohit Taygi(AE,PTCUL Srinagr Garhwal)was the speaker and chief guest of the even.
Dr. VM Mishra (HOD,EED),PROF.MK Panda and Dr. Sanjay Gairola were accompanying the chief guest.
Welcome address along with intrduction of speaker was done by VM MIshra sir HOD chief guest Mr.Rohit Taygi sir delivered the speech on the topic and also gave brief introduction about Power Transmisssion corporation of Uttaranchal Ltd.which was created to handle power transmission business and registered as a Government company on 27th May,2004.It started functioning on 1st june 2004.And with that he also enlightened students with this experience and knowledge.
Final and tird year students (total 60 students )along with faculty members were the audience for the day.
MK Panda sir encouraged students to broaden their perspective and enchance their skills .The celebration was finished with another Inspiartional Speech by Dr.Sanjay Gairola sir who urged students to be a great engineers as well as a responsible citizen.Thus ,the main purpose of the seminar was to aware students about the substation working and maintenance.

Seminar on Electrical Switchyard Testing and Commissioning

Guest Lecture was conducted by the department of EED, GBPIET Ghurdauri on 9th September, 2022 from 10am onwards for students in Seminar Hall. The guest lecture gathers speaker- Mr. KRISHNA KUMAR who is presently working as a Research and Development Engineer at UJVNL Ltd. The lecture was attended by students and Faculty members of electrical department.
The guest speaker was heartily welcomed by everyone. The guest speaker Mr. Krishna Kumar, having 11+ years of experience and has published numerous research papers in international journals. His research area includes Renewable Energy, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and IoT.
About the speaker, before joining UJVNL, he worked as an Assistant Professor at BTKIT, Dwarahat. He received his B.E. (Electronics and Communication Engineering) from Govind Ballabh Pant Engineering College, Pauri Garhwal, and M.Tech (Digital Systems) from Motilal Nehru NIT Allahabad. He is also pursuing his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (India). The session was very interactive and students participated enthusiastically.

Hands on Session on Electronics Circuit Design for Electrical Engineers

Event was covered on 7th September 2022 from 10 Am to 1 PM at EED2 in Electrical Department. Today’s speaker is Mr. Sachin Negi, Assistant Prof. EED, GBPIET. Students of Electrical Department 2nd year and Electronics Department 2nd year (Total 108) were present. In this event students were taught about the electronic circuit which is used to acquire data and analysis IT for different application. The topic that were covered in this session were ARDINO based Microcontroller experiments, Circuit simulation experiments and PCB based instrumentation-based experiments. The students were given basic idea about circuit designing using PROTEUS software and other software’s such as LABVIEW, MATLAB and PSPICE. The purpose of this session was to make upcoming electrical and electronics engineers aware of how electronic circuit designing is done.

Placement Team

Department of Electical Engineering has constituted a department placement student team for the session of 2020-21 which includes 2nd,3rd, 4th year students.

Internship Program

Department of Electrical Engineering GBPIET Pauri has organized an Online Internship program pn “Matlab, VLAB & Applications in Elecrical Engineering” sponsored by TEQIP- 3 and in collaboration with SmartBrain Engineers and Technologies Pvt Ltd during August 17th-28th 2020. In this internship, 105 students of 2nd and 3rd year Elctrical Students had participated. This internship have covered many thrust areas of Electrical Engineering like MATLAB,VLAB, Control System, Semiconductor, Solar Cell, Renewable energy etc.

International Conference

Department of Computer Science, Electronics & Electrical Engineering, GBPIET Pauri has organized an Online International Conference on “Smart Machine Intelligence and Real-Time Computing” sponsored by TEQIP-3 during June 26-27, 2020. The aim of the conference was to bring together the researchers, scientists, engineers and research students in areas of Engineering and Technology, and it provides them a national forum for the dissemination of original research, new ideas and practical development experiences. A total of 151 research papers were accepted out of which 116 research papers were accepted and presented in this conference.

PowerPoint Presentation Program

It was held on 1 March 2020 in which students were asked to be prepared on any technical topic of their choice & present their research work on the live presentation .
The competition was held among the first year and second year students, the main motto of the program was to enhance the communication and presentation skill of the students, so that they can back off their phobia to speak up in public, With many of the good events ,it was also the wonderful event that took place under the Society Of Electrical Engineering .All the students took participation willingly and each one of them present it with perfection .

Respective juries were present there to judge each of the candidates, on the basis of their skill & capability to present & showcase up their views and ideas. Such program are an effective way to build bridges of understanding among students .This kind of exchange makes students more aware of the technology and what's going around in the world

SEE Committee the session ( 2019-20 ) host the Delegation in 1 March 2020 .The entire schedule was well formulated with activities related to the event and facilitated an experiential learning in the students & it is helpful in imparting the practical knowledge in students of the society .They were enthused to start the day, this helped them regain their flexibility in techno world .The students also enjoyed the program throughout &demonstrated exemplary spirit .This Program was a milestone in our personal and professional journey of knowing each other’s skill and views. After the event was to end, it’s was the moment, when winners of the event were to be announced. “Winner is the one, who deserves the service” to this note, the respected juries gave the result which was Framed on the basis of each n every one's persona, how they did they present it on their self. Five teams were declared as the winner, on the basis of their own accountability, ranked from 1 to 5 th position.

VJ Hunt

It was organized by the Society of Electrical Engineering dated on 16 February 2020 , the event took place very beautifully and more or less it was a interesting one .One has to pick up the chits and speak one by one on all of that topics written on them & had to correlate them . Everyone has have their different perspective on the topics, which made this event funnier. Everyone’s thoughts was incredible & funnier, which was the main element of this event, to create open environment among the students.
