Women In Engineering Affinity Group Events

Women’s Week 3.0
Date : 27th March,2024 – 29th March,2024
Women’s Week was a triumph, showcasing empowerment and innovation across three dynamic days. It kicked off with a coding contest and web development quiz, drawing a diverse and enthusiastic crowd. Day two featured a “Find Your Own Business Model” workshop with insights from Ranmeek Kalra, followed by an exciting BGMI competition. The finale included a thrilling Dart Frenzy relay race and a resume-building session. Generous funding from CS Society enhanced the event, which left participants inspired and connected, making it a pivotal celebration of empowerment and achievement.
Algo Rhymes
Date : 27th January,2024
IEEE MRU Student Branch hosted “Algo Rhymes” in collaboration with WIE, featured an online quiz focusing on algorithms. With 20 questions within a 15-minute timeframe via Google Forms, participants’ understanding of data structures and algorithms was tested. The quiz aimed to evaluate knowledge in the computer science domain, attracting 66 responses. Utilizing multiple-choice questions worth 1 point each, participants engaged in a competitive learning environment. Certificates were awarded to both winners and participants, fostering recognition and appreciation for their efforts in enhancing their understanding of algorithmic principles.


Flippin Fun Fair
Date : 31st July,2023
The game consisted of two stages. Both teams must flip the cup for the first level. Per cup, there were five chances to turn it. The team that flips the cup first is required to accurately respond to a question about women in engineering; if they do, they advance to the next round. The chosen teams had to construct a pyramid out of 10 cups in the subsequent round. The competition’s winner is the team that constructed the pyramid first.
UI/UX Designing Competition
Date : 22th February,2023
IEEE MRU Student Branch hosted a UI/UX Designing Competition on February 22, 2023, inviting participants to enhance websites of their choice. With over 15 active participants, the event focused on web-based platforms. E-certificates were awarded to all participants, while winners were selected based on the quality and speed of their improvement recommendations.


Poetry Slams

On the prestigious occasion of International WIE Day and IEEE MRU WIE Day, the IEEE MRU Student Branch, in collaboration with the WIE Affinity Group, hosted Poetry Slams. This event provided a platform for participants to craft poetry or songs dedicated to women in engineering, celebrating their contributions and achievements in the field.
Earthy Artistry
Date : 23rd April,2023
Attendees were captivated by the ‘Earthy Artistry’ event. Hosted by IEEE MRU Student Branch and WIE Affinity Group, the digital poster contest showcased participants’ creativity while promoting environmental awareness. Themes like Water Conservation, Pollution Prevention, and Importance of Water inspired a celebration of talent and eco-consciousness.


Women’s Week
Date : 21st March,2023 – 23rd March,2023
IEEE MRU Student Branch’s Women’s Week from March 21st to 23rd, 2023, featured a Lamp Lighting ceremony followed by a “Filmy Frenzy” quiz and an Interactive Group Discussion on “The Rise of Generative AI.” Day 2 included a webinar on “The Art of UX Design” by Ananya Kamra and a fun-filled “Spin the Wheel” event. Day 3 began with a coding test on HackerRank followed by a thrilling Relay Race Competition involving 16 teams and 64 participants.
Web it Up

IEEE MRU Student Branch organized “Web it Up,” a talk show in collaboration with MRU Entrepreneurship Cell, aiming to highlight the hurdles faced by entrepreneurs and offering insights on how to overcome them. The session, addressed by Prof. Ravinder Kaur, focused on becoming an entrepreneur, navigating challenges, and starting from scratch.


BitKit – Crypto Quiz
Date : 18th November,2022
The cryptocurrency quiz featured questions ranging from basic to advanced levels, attracting over 80 registrations. Winners Garima Pandey and Ayush Sachdeva from B. Tech CSE and B. Tech CSE AIML respectively showcased their knowledge, with winners decided based on accuracy. Congratulations to all participants!
Hurdle Dash
Date : 2nd November,2022
IEEE MRU Student Branch organized “Hurdle Dash,” a live interactive session addressing various aspects applicable across different life domains, led by Prof. Ravinder Kaur from the Department of Electronics at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, University of Delhi. Prof. Kaur, a seasoned academic with numerous paper publications, is dedicated to sharing her expertise through sessions on Design Thinking and Entrepreneurship for effective teaching and learning.


Photo Mania

On the 75th Independence Day, IEEE MRU Student Branch, with WIE Affinity Group, hosted Photo Mania, a submission-based competition themed “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav,” with winners chosen based on creativity, originality, and relevance to the theme, celebrating participants’ patriotism and artistic talents.
Fashion Folk Tales

On the 75th Independence Day, IEEE MRU Student Branch, with WIE Affinity Group, hosted IEEE’s GOT TALENT – ARTopedia, a submission-based competition themed “NATION FIRST, ALWAYS FIRST,” celebrating creativity and patriotism through artistic talents.


Digital Business Webinar
Date : 16th August,2022
IEEE MRU Student Branch, in collaboration with WIE Affinity Group, organized a webinar titled “DIGITAL BUSINESS FOR WOMEN,” featuring Mrs. Vinnie Khanna Mathur, Chief Editor of THE POINT, as a guest speaker. With 60+ registrations and 50+ attendees, Mrs. Vinnie Mam discussed the significance of digital business in today’s era, shared her experiences, and motivated students to pursue entrepreneurship, fostering interactive engagement among participants.
Ideathon
Date : 14th March,2022
Ideathon, a hybrid event, featured two rounds with 40+ initial registrations, culminating in 5 finalist teams. Judges, including Ms. Anupriya Sharma, Ms. Priyanka Gupta, and Ms. Dimple, assessed presentations from MRU and other colleges, commending students for their interdisciplinary problem-solving approach related to women’s issues, fostering campus engagement and participation.


Validation Ceremony
Date : 3rd March,2022
IEEE MRU Student Branch organized a tech-themed quiz during the validation ceremony for Tech Kranti, where exe-com members and volunteers were acknowledged with certificates and goodies. Guest speakers included Niharika Yadav and Parul Taneja, both MRU alumni. The Kahoot App-based quiz, held on March 3, 2022, attracted over 80 active participants, with winners awarded certificates based on highest points scored in the shortest time span.
