The SEC IEEE Industrial Electronics Society Student Branch Chapter (SBC) organized “EVOEDGE”, a vibrant two-day event on November 5 and 6, 2024, at Sri Sairam Engineering College to commemorate IEEE IES Day. The event featured Mr. B. Velmurugan, Co-Founder and COO of Vividobots, as the chief guest. His illustrious career, spanning roles such as Electrical Machines Designer at ADA, Production Supervisor at Flex, and alumnus of CEG and Velammal, brought immense value to the occasion. The event began with an inaugural ceremony at 9:30 AM, featuring the Tamil Thai Vaazhthu sung by the college choir, followed by a welcome address by Dr. J. Thamil Selvi, Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The keynote session by Mr. Velmurugan inspired students with insights on innovation and industrial trends.
The first day included two parallel events held from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. QuizWhiz, a quiz competition coordinated by M. Pavithran, S. S. Mohamed Shafeeq, and S. Monishaa Shri, was judged by Ms. S. Gayathri, Associate Professor, and Dr. R. Ashok Gandhi, Professor of Mechanical Engineering. Simultaneously, Nextravest, a poster presentation coordinated by V. A. Godwin Joe, Subhasree, and M. Vanishree, was evaluated by Mr. Velmurugan, Ms. R. Chitra, Associate Professor, and Dr. C. N. Savithri, Associate Professor of ECE. The second day was dedicated to TechnoImpact, a project presentation event coordinated by G. R. Arun and S. Mahalakshmi, with Dr. K. Lakshmi Joshitha, Professor of ECE, Ms V A Velvizhi, Associate Professor of ECE and Mr. Balaji Arumugam, CEO of BigBucks Innovation, serving as judges.
At the conclusion of event, participation certificates were distributed to all attendees, with winners receiving cash prizes. Volunteers were also acknowledged with certificates of Volunteering, and the IEEE IES office bearers were honoured with certificates and shields for their contributions. The event was a tremendous success, fostering innovation and knowledge-sharing among participants while showcasing their talents through well-coordinated efforts by the organizing team and enthusiastic support from the students.
