Brief description:
The 4th IEEE International Conference on Computing and Communication
Technologies (ICCCT’21) was hosted by Sri Sai Ram Engineering College, Chennai from 16th to 17th December 2021. ICCCT’21 is a non-profit conference and provides an opportunity for practicing engineers, academicians and researchers to meet in a forum to discuss various issues and their future direction in the field of computing and communication technologies. The conference aims to put together experts from the relevant areas to disseminate their knowledge and experience for the relevant future research scope. There were 35 tracks in the conference covering almost all areas of the aforementioned fields.

This 4th edition of ICCCT received a massive response of 400 papers from all over India and other countries. 112 best-quality papers were accepted after the review process. The paper acceptance ratio is 28%. In this two-day mega event, 3 keynote sessions have been organized. The conference was organized virtually on an online Zoom platform adhering to the COVID-19 pandemic guidelines. All 112 accepted papers have been presented virtually in 14 technical sessions.
Two session chairs were present in each of these 14 technical sessions. The inaugural session of ICCCT’21 began at 9: 30 AM on 16.12.21 with speeches of distinguished guest professors, Mr. Sampath Veeraraghavan, IEEE Eta Kappa Nu 2023 Global president, Shri. Sai Prakash Leo Muthu, Chairman & CEO, Sairam Institutions, Dr. Valentina Emilia Balas, Professor, Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad, Romania, Dr. N. Kumarappan, Chair, IEEE Madras Section. The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Akshaya B, Chairperson, IEEE Sri Sairam Engineering College Computer Society Student Branch Chapter. The conference commenced with two back-to-back keynote speeches
on ‘2-D Biosignal Processing for automation in Disease detection based on Deep Neural Networks’’ by Dr. Celia Shahnaz, Professor, Department of EEE, BUBT, Bangladesh, Chair, IEEE Signal Processing Society and ‘Intelligence unit commitment with a vehicle to grid using hybrid optimization technique’ by Dr. N. Kumarappan, Chair, IEEE Madras Section/CIS Madras Chapter. This was followed by
concurrent paper presentation panels in 7 technical sessions. On the first day, 56 papers were presented with the participation of more than 170 authors. The second day began with a speech on ‘Deep Learning Based Image Super- Resolution by Dr. Supavadee Aramvith (Associate Professor, Multimedia Analytics and Processing Research Unit, Department of Electrical Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand). This was followed by concurrent paper presentation panels in 7 technical sessions. Overall, 56 papers were presented on the second day with the participation of more than 170 authors.

The event concluded with a Valedictory Ceremony at 2:30 pm, Dr. Jerzy
Ryszard Szymanski, professor, Kazimierz Pulaski University of Technology and Humanities in Radom, Poland, enlightened the event through his worthy discourse. Finally, the session concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms.Bella Godwin Gracia, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Technology, Sri Sairam Engineering College.

Computer Society Student Branch Chapter conducted a seminar titled “Skill-up for Placements” on 8th December 2021.  SSEC IEEE CS SBC Member Ms Jothika S welcomed the guest of Honour and the participants. During this seminar, Ms. Sowmyaa V R provided valuable insights into the skills that are necessary to ace the placements. As a part of her presentation, she stressed the necessity of coding and the importance of core subjects. In addition, she shared
her inspiring CISCO internship bagging story through the CISCO IDEATHON. As the session came to a close, students had the chance to interact with the speaker and get their doubts clarified. Several questions arose regarding aptitude preparation, AMCAT, Pega certifications, and CGPA. With a Vote of Thanks, the session ended with a roadmap for students to pursue their dream jobs.

Computer Society Student Branch Chapter has successfully conducted a seminar titled “Opportunities in Innovation, Start-ups and
Entrepreneurship” on 6th December 2021. SSEC IEEE CS SBC Advisor Dr. Soma Prathibha welcomed the Chief Guest and the participants with open arms at 1:45 pm. By this seminar, Dr. C.R. Rene Robin lighted up the opportunities in Entrepreneurship that often people leave unnoticed.  The seminar kick-started with an entertaining warm-up session to cheer up the attendees. After getting warmed up, the valuable speaker shared the points regarding the SDG Ideathon and Solvathon which are being conducted since 2020. Various competitions and awards issued by various organizations
worldwide were discussed in the seminar. In addition, he explained about various opportunities provided by Sairam Management for the student community regarding entrepreneurship and development such as Entrepreneurship Cell and Innovation Clinic. Meanwhile, he sorted out all the queries raised by the students and assured to guide them in their plans.

The seminar was concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Yashwanth Krishna B of 2nd Year, Department of Information Technology. Overall, the session provided lots of new information to the rising buds of India.

The seminar session was then carried out by Dr.Sheela Thavasi, the Professor & HOD, Dean (N/W) IT Department to address the students. The remarkable speaker of today’s webinar was Mr. Hemanth P, Web
Development committee lead. By dint of this seminar, he manifested his vision on Cloud Computing, its types, the various stages involved, and its applications. He also elucidated the details of AWS and it’s working. The interactive session on AWS was so persuasive. Meanwhile, he sorted out all the queries raised by the students thus illuminating them.  Eventually, Mr. Niranjan Kumar S, the outreach committee lead furnished the Vote of thanks and wrapped up this seminar joyfully. Brief Description: The IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter of Sri Sairam Engineering College successfully organized an exhilarating essay writing contest “Write to Unite” on 17th November 2021. This contest targeted school students from classes 9th to 12th to showcase their amazing essay writing skills.
A total of 85 students participated in this competition to expose their writing skills on the topic “The importance of Right to Education” and “Cyber/Digital security – Boon or Bane”. The first place was bagged by M. R. Udhaya of 12th B with a total of 18.5 points and the second place went to Christybai Jency of 11th B with a total of 18 points.
All the students got a good experience and came to know a lot of new
innovative ideas. They were greatly benefited from this competition.

The magnificent IEEE DAY 2K21 celebration event comprised of the three competitions for the school students:

 

·       Webbers (Web designing workshop):

Hands-on training on HTML and web page creation for students in class nine included learning the purpose of various tags used in HTML. Students’ concerns regarding the creation of pages were addressed in an interactive session.

 

After the quiz was over, the top two students with the highest scores were announced as the winners.

 

·       Talkteens (Group Discussion):

There were 10 teams formed of students in class eleventh and they each discussed a different topic and the top two performers were selected based on their vocabulary, fluency and content relevance.

 

·       Channel Zap (Channel Surfing):

Students from both classes ninth and eleventh participated. It was a non-technical event, where each student was given a character and a card with a situation on it. For the given situation, the students had to describe or act as the given character would do in that situation. For the best two performances, cash prizes were given.

Finally, the most fascinating aspect of the event valedictory is concluded. All the winners received cash prizes and were addressed by Dr. Soma Prathibha, Chapter advisor of SSEC IEEE CS SBC, Dr. Ananthi M., Chapter advisor of SSEC IEEE TEMS Society SBC, and Dr. Sankari, Chapter advisor of SSEC IEEE EduSoc SBC.

SSEC IEEE CS SBC chairperson Ms. Akshaya welcomed the participants with a brief welcome note at 5:00 PM.

By virtue of this webinar, first Mr. Prasanth Mohan gave the insights regarding the IEEEXtreme Programming Competition like eligibility criteria for Students, Proctors and Volunteers, the format of the event, details regarding team composition and finding proctors as well as teammates for the competition. He threw light upon the impact of IEEEXtreme on the stakeholders of the competition and truly motivated us all to participate and gain benefit from the same. Then we heard from another notable speaker, Dr. Luis A. Fernandes who started his presentation with the new aspects of IEEEXtreme 15.0 like the priority to Health and Wellness, Remote Proctoring and Participation as well as Plagiarism detection. He further enlightened us with information regarding the PR Ambassador Program, feedback from IEEEXtreme 14.0 Participants and Volunteers and concluded his presentation with the best practices to be followed for the competition. All of the students’ questions were answered and the speakers provided them with valuable information. 

In the end, Ms. Dharshini S, the Student Leader of this month, presented a vote of thanks for bringing this webinar to a successful close. 

Overall, the session provided a lot of benefit to the young creative student members about the IEEEXtreme 15.0 Competition and will truly enable them to perform better in the competition.

By virtue of this webinar, Mr. Md. Tabil Ahammed outlined the geographical arrangement and entities of IEEE. Additionally, he mentioned the benefits of being an IEEE student member by referring to an eLearning library, mentoring programs, and conferences. In his closing remarks, he talked about IEEE’s networking and volunteerism. Then we heard from another notable speaker, Mr. Md. Mania Ahmed Joy elaborated on the scholarships available for computer society student members. He also explained how to apply and what the eligibility criteria are.

All of the students’ questions were answered and the speakers provided them with valuable information.

Almost 60 registrations were obtained, from which, approximately50 participants attended and have given us outstanding feedback for our event.

The webinar beganat 5:45 PM where Dr. Soma Prathibha, the Advisor of the SSEC IEEE CS SB Chapter, greeted the gathering through her welcome note.

The speaker of today’s webinar was Mr.Raj Aryan, Open-Source Contributor at Code heat and FOSSASIA, has much experience in the field of Open Sourcing, shared a lot of his experience and basics on this topic.

He alsosorted out all the queries raised by the students and he enlightened them by providing a short note on thebenefits of open source.

Eventually, Mr. Karan K V, the Student Leader of this month, furnished the Vote of Thanks and wrapped up this webinar cheerfully.

Sri Sairam Engineering College IEEE Computer Society- Student Branch Chapter has conducted an enlightening webinar on the Internet of Things named “IoT-from plan to project” on 16-06-2021. The event unfolded at 5.00 PM with the Welcome Address by Dr Soma Prathibha, the Advisor of SSEC IEEE CS SBC. Following that, Dr Ranjana, Associate Professor of the Department of Information Technology at Sri Sai Ram Engineering College, took over the session. Her speech was mainly focused on the existing and future prospects of the IoT. She encouraged students to work on projects involving IoT and highlighted several online forums that would be beneficial to them in the development of IoT projects. After that, she gladly answered the questions of our participants in an interactive Q&A session. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Harini, Leader of the month, SSEC IEEE CS SBC. The main objective of this event was to encourage students to develop IoT-related projects. Overall, the session was really valuable and productive to the students.

The IEEE Computer Society-Student Branch Chapter of Sri Sairam Engineering College triumphantly recommenced it’s the third session of the “Wednesday webinar series” on the concept “How to get acquainted with papers, conferences, and journals” on 09th June 2021.

Nearly 130 students actively participated in this webinar. The webinar successfully kick-started at 5:00 pm where Dr. Soma Prathiba, the Advisor of IEEE SSEC CS CHAPTER embraced the gathering through her welcome address.

The  stage was vivaciously handed over to the Guest speaker Dr. M. Ananthi Associate Professor of Information Technology, Sri Sairam Engineering College. She addressed the students on the importance of learning through online platforms like Skillrack, Futureskills and Coursera. She nailed the fame and success achieved by the students of Sri Sairam Engineering College through these platforms.

 She motivated and boosted the student power by  describing the achievements of Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam and followed by his success stories. She inscribed the importance of dreams in the hearts of every student.

Further She gave various ideas on effective paper presentations .She discussed the “Ideal journey” and “Literature Survey” which was extremely useful and thought-provoking to all the participants.

 Later the query sessions were opened wherein the participants asked their doubts and got clarified.  Followed by this,  the Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ms Jothika S , the student leader of this month.

Overall the session was very much interactive and helpful for the student community especially to those who were very much enthralled in research.

The IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter of Sri Sairam Engineering College successfully organized the second session of the “Wednesday Webinar Series” on the theme “The entropy of early stage startups” on 2nd June 2021.

In Total, we received almost 180 registrations. In which, around 100 participants attended and have given us positive feedback about this webinar.

The webinar kickstarted at 5:00 PM where Dr. Soma Prathibha, the advisor of the SSEC IEEE CS SB chapter, greeted the gathering through her welcome note. 

The notable speaker of today’s webinar was Mr Viraj Chhajed, a serial entrepreneur, co-founder of BaschML, and is currently pursuing his 12th grade. By dint of this webinar, he manifested his vision on entrepreneurship and startups. He also added up his journey of becoming an entrepreneur which was truly inspirational.

Meanwhile, he sorted out all the queries raised by the students and he enlightened them by providing a short note on becoming an entrepreneur. 

Eventually, Ms Harini K, the student leader of this month, furnished the Vote of Thanks and wrapped up this webinar cheerfully.

On the whole, the session was acutely fruitful to the young creative fellowship.

MAY

TECHNOVACION’21, a 3-day International Virtual Hackathon Event organized by SSEC IEEE Computer Society, Student Branch Chapter in partnership with Softrate India and funded by IEEE SPAx, took place from the 13th to the 15th of May 2021.

 The key goal of this event was to provide a platform for students to transform their ideas into products. 250 Participants from various parts of India and a few teams from Germany, Melbourne participated. 

Problem statements focusing on the Sustainable Development Goals. 

Following a thorough review, 93 teams were chosen to advance to the next round.

The event’s grand opening took place on May 13, 2021. The Inaugural Ceremony drew more than 480 people. Panel of speakers, including Mr Rajendran Dhandapani, President of Zoho Schools of Learning, who spoke about Hacking in sports, religion, and intelligence; Mr Adil Usman, IEEE SPAx Chair, who spoke about the “Opportunities of IEEE”; Ms Celia Shahnaz, IEEE SPS Chair, who spoke about “From Ideation to Deployment”.

On the Valedictory Ceremony, our Chief Guest, Ms Simay Akar, educated the students on “How to Be a Changemaker” which was extremely useful to the young creative minds. 

Following that, the prizes were given. The First Prize was a cash reward of 10,000 INR, with the Second and Third Prizes being 7500 INR and 5000 INR, respectively. The Best Project Award was also awarded at the event to the team with the most creative proposals. 

The Vote of  Thanks was then cast by Ms. Akshaya B, IEEE CS Chair. Overall, the three-day International Virtual Hackathon was a huge success.

The IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter, Sri Sairam Engineering College

successfully conducted the first session of the Wednesday Webinar Series on the topic Web
Development Foundation on 26th May 2021. The goal of this webinar was to give students an
overview of web development.
The event began at 5:00 PM with a special address by Dr. Sheela Thavasi, HOD Information
Technology, Dean of Networking Sri Sairam Engineering College followed by a welcome address
by Dr. Soma Prathibha, the IEEE SSEC CS SBC Advisor.
Dr. Sheela Thavasi, HOD Information Technology, Dean of Networking Sri Sairam Engineering
College, launched the official IEEE website on this special occasion. A group of IEEE members
designed the website. Despite the fact that it took a long time to complete, the final product was
well received.
Ms. Jothika and Mr. Karan, the day’s speakers, are pursuing their bachelor’s degrees in Information
Technology at Sri Sairam Engineering College.
Ms. Jothika began the session by explaining the differences between frontend and backend web
development. She then demonstrated how to create a registration form and a simple layout using
HTML and CSS.
Mr. Karan gave clear insights on Javascript for absolute beginners and demonstrated few
examples.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ms. Akshaya, Chairperson, IEEE CS.
Overall, the session was extremely beneficial to the Student Fraternity

APRIL

 

IEEE Computer Society- Student Branch Chapter of Sri Sairam Engineering College has conducted a 2-day Online workshop on “ How to Lock Internships as Fresher” on 10.04.2021 and 11.04.2021.

Nearly 180 students actively participated in this event. Guest Speaker, Mr Abhishek Babu, Founder and CEO of StudyMonk.

Addressed students about different internship opportunities and strategies to lock them as a fresher. Emphasizing a lot of financial aspects, he elaborated about getting into paid internships during the early period of engineering studies.

On the second of workshop, he explained about exploring the Niche Skillsets and researching about the organization much before getting into the company.

Gave guidance regarding the portfolio development. Further acquainted about the 20 skills that a person can learn in a week.

Tasks given: Students were also asked to send their video resumes.

The IEEE SSEC CS was further divided into various committees like Technical Committee, Design Committee, Outreach Committee, Documentation Committee, Web Development Committee, Programming Committee.

IEEE Computer Society- Student Branch Chapter of Sri Sairam Engineering College has conducted a Online Webinar on Cybersecurity “ Hacker Talk” on 20.03.2021.

Mr. Sam Joy Herald Immanuel is working as a Junior Security Consultant Intern at prompt Infotech. He has been listed in Google’s hall of fame for reporting a security vulnerability. 

Mainly centered around the forums that are available to learn ethical hacking and the tools available for the same. He gave clear insights on Ethical Hacking for absolute beginners.

 

IEEE Computer Society- Student Branch Chapter of Sri Sairam Engineering College has conducted a Online workshop on “Design to Shine” on 07.03.2021.

Mr. Jabez Selvaraj D is the Chief Design Officer of the Studymonk Design Team. He’s also a member of the IEEE smart Village program for the South Asia region. 

Mainly centered around various tools available for design and the pros and cons of each tool. Also designed many posters live, so that the participants could get a better understanding.

IEEE Computer Society- Student Branch Chapter of Sri Sairam Engineering College has conducted a webinar on “ Squeeze your stress, Have a Quest” on 21.02.2021.

Ms. Suganya Raman is an Agile Learner and a Professional with over 14 years of experience in the area of Talent Development & Management ,Global Project Management, Lean, Organizational Effectiveness, Employee Engagement, CSER, PwD and Diversity & Inclusion. She is a Sign Language Expert and Motivational Speaker, part of Mentor Club. Passionate about Service & Inclusiveness activities.

Her talk is mainly centered around Stress Management. She gave Healthy ideas for our daily routines, how to keep ourselves stress free, ways to do our work without stress.

IEEE Computer Society- Student Branch Chapter of Sri Sairam Engineering College has conducted Poster Design Competition on “ International Childhood Cancer Awareness Day” which is held on 15.02.2021.

The registration was started from 02.02.2021 and were allowed to submit the poster on or before 14.02.2021 .

Students participated in this event and Top 2 posters were selected and is posted in the social media sites of IEEE SSEC SBC on 15.02.2021.

JANUARY

IEEE Computer Society- Student Branch Chapter of Sri Sairam Engineering College has conducted an Online event on “ IEEE Awareness Program” on 23.01.2021

The event kicked off with welcome address by Dr. S. Brinda followed by a speech by our principal Dr. Rajendra Prasad. The event continued with our student members of each society, Mr Leoram Siddharth, Ms Monika Mohan, Ms Monisha K, Ms Akshaya B, Mr Saiganesh, Mr Rahul Narayan L briefing about their journey in IEEE so far

The keynote speaker of the day was Mr. Aravindan Anbazhagan, Chair, IEEE Madras Young Professionals. Mr. Aravindan Anbazhagan is a member of IEEE Professional communication society, IEEE computer society MGAB and IEEE region 10 educational Activities. He is also the founder of EduRise Global, which offers quality learning experience virtually.
