Design teams use design thinking to tackle ill-defined/unknown problems (aka wicked problems) because they can reframe these in human-centric ways and focus on what’s most important for users. The guest speaker, Mr. Ayan Kumar Bandyopaadhyay, Master Educator of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, delightfully held the Design Thinking Workshop.

The event was conducted from 3:30 pm to 5:15 pm on 25 February, 2021. He demonstrated how design thinking does not need to be artistic abilities. It needs us to be presenting confidently unfinished work. It indulges us to become more visual in terms of communication. As the long age phrase goes, “A picture has a thousand words.”, whereas in design thinking it’s said as, “A visual has a thousand words.” The focus of thinking while solving a problem stands on, whether it is a required problem that has to be solved. He enlightened minds and made the audience think on how to differentiate problems. He showcased some touch points for creating value between offerings. Moreover, he broadened the perspectives with the differences between traditional thinking and design thinking. He highlighted how smart cities should be designed and how design thinking can be applied in the agriculture field.

The event ended with a vote of thanks given by Diya Suthiv. The workshop was attended by SICSR students including IEEE Members.
