Education 4.0 – Role of Educational Technologies

IEEE Region 10 EA Sponsored Capacity Building Workshop, Education 4.0 – Role of Educational Technologies was hosted by IEEE SICSR Pune Student Branch, Educational Activities and IEEE Education Society of IEEE Pune Section in association with Educational Committees of IEEE Delhi, IEEE Madras Sections and IEEE Nagpur Subsection, and is supported by the EAC IEEE India Council.

Description –
The three-day workshop was conducted on an online mode and witnessed a range of esteemed guest speakers who shared their insights on various topics revolving around the theme of “Role of Educational Technologies”.
The first day of the workshop was hosted by Ms. Diya Suthiv and Mr. Sahil Lakhani with Ms. Chhavi Trivedi and Mr. Gondrala Tarun Srinivasulu providing the technical support. The event started with inauguration ceremony. Prof. Dr. Jatinderkumar R. Saini Sir, Director, Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research, presented the welcome address to the august gathering of the event. Mr. Girish Khilari Sir, Chair of IEEE Pune section also welcomed the gathering and Dr. Rajashree Jain, Professor at SICSR and Secretary at IEEE India Council presented the preamble for the workshop. The Guest of Honor, Mr. Deepak Mathur, Director, IEEE Region-10 (Asia-Pacific) was then invited to address the gathering with inaugural address. Sir congratulated the organizing committee and volunteering team for organizing the capacity building workshop and appreciated the collaboration of various sections in the event. Sir then shared his valuable insights on education and IEEE’s vision for the same in today’s era. He was then presented with a virtual memento as a token of gratitude. The second Guest of honour, Dr. Suresh Nair, Chairman, IEEE India Council was invited to share his valuable thoughts with the participants. Sir appreciated Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research for hosting the event and then he briefed about evolution of education and the importance of the workshop sessions that were to be held.
As a token of gratitude, sir was then presented with a virtual memento. Dr. Preeti Bajaj, Educational Activities Committee Chair, IEEE Region-10 was invited as the Chief Guest of the event where she emphasized on the thought “Learn, Unlearn and Relearn”. Ma’am also congratulated the Education 4.0 team for organizing the event at such apt time. She was then presented with a virtual memento as a token of gratitude. The capacity building workshop, Education 4.0 was then announced to be open by the Guest of Honour, Mr. Deepak Mathur. Dr. Rachna Garg, Chair, IEEE Delhi Section, presented the felicitation message. The inaugural ceremony concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Virendra Shete, Chair, IEEE Education Society, Pune.
The first session was conducted by Dr. Debarshi Mukherjee, associate professor, HOD of Business Management, Tripura University on the topic Education 4.0 in the Realm of Learning Continuity. He touched upon some intriguing questions which are really prevalent in today’s time and talked about evolution of learning in digital space, learning domains, experiential deliberation and the learning matrix. He concluded by touching upon the concept of personalization in Education 4.0.
As second guest speaker, Ms. Gayatri Venugopal, Assistant Professor, Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research, conducted a session on Moodle. She introduced the concept of Education 4.0 and then touched upon Learning Management Systems gave a demo on Moodle cloud for the participants where she taught about various components of Moodle LMS and how to use it.

Ms. Dnyaneshwari Yelne along with Ms. Tanu Gupta from Nagpur Subsection were the anchor for the second day of the workshop on 16th July, 2021. As the first guest speaker of the day, Dr. Supavadee Aramvith, member of IEEE Educational Activities Board (EAB) and Chair, IEEE EAB Section Education Outreach Committee presented her session on IEEE Resources. She started by briefing about human capital and then introduced the participants to IEEE Educational Activity strategies and talked about IEEE Try Engineering, STEM program, Continuing Professional Education and IEEE collabratec and dataport.
As the second guest speaker, Mr. Dhanu Pattanashetti, Senior Client Services Manager at IEEE, presented the session on Adapting for the fourth industrial revolution with IEEE Research IEEE Xplore , Learning Network, Open Resources. He introduced the participants to the various IEEE resources, such as IEEE Explore Digital Library using which faculty and students could access various research and academic publications ranging in a variety of topics efficiently using IEEE Explore.
The last session for the day was taken by Dr. Amoli Belasare and Dr. Nita Rehpade on the topic Learning Management System – Google Classroom. She briefed about various consoles and how to start with google workplace. She then touched upon the topics like Registration, sign-in and settings for organizational units and groups in google classrooms. Then she introduced the faculty console and how to work with it. Dr. Nita Rehpade, then, gave a hands-on session on how to access and use Google Classroom.
The third day of the workshop was hosted by Ms. Shatakshi Vishwakarma and Ms. Shritama Sengupta. As the first guest speaker, Mr. Binu A. Rajagiri, Assistant Professor, Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology conducted a session on Content Development and Archiving Tools for Research. He started by talking about the concept of Research Cycle and talked about Mendeley, Overleaf, Typeset and Creately and gave a demo on the same.
Ms. Lorena Garcia, Senior IEEE Client Service/ University Partnership Program Manager IEEE Try Engineering, as the next guest speaker, conducted a session on IEEE TryEngineering. She started the session by introducing the participants to the vision and mission of IEEE Try Engineering and then talked about Educational Activities- Pre-University Education Coordinating Committee and IEEE TryEngineering Brands (TryEngineering Summer Institute, TryEngineering.org and TryEngineering Together). She then touched upon the learning plans on the stem portal.
As third guest speaker for the day, Mr. John Day, IEEE Senior Member, Director, Member Products and Programs, had a session on the topic IEEE Collabratec: Uniting the IEEE Global Technical CommunityHe introduced the core value of IEEE, “People and their Collective Collaborations” and briefed about IEEE Collabratec and it’s premium experience.
Mr. Radeep Krishna, Assistant Professor, Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Higher Education, Tamil Nadu, conducted a session on Digital Pedagogy. He initiated with introduction to the concept of digital pedagogy and its creation using various tools such as Doodly, Open-Board and Davinci Resolve.
The last session of the workshop was conducted by Mr. Anurag Sahay, Global Business Unit Head- AI and Data Science at Nagarro, on the topic of AI in education. He talked about diversity in learner and simple technology goals and emphasized on the big ‘AI in Education’ principle, that is “Observe the learner, measure and Adapt” using some case studies.
The conclusion of each session by the guest speaker was followed by a question-answer session. At the end, the speakers were presented with a virtual memento as a token of gratitude.
The end of the session was marked by the Valedictory Session. Dr. Rajashree Jain, Professor at SICSR and Secretary at IEEE India Council addressed the gathering and extended a heartfelt gratitude to everyone for joining the workshop. The felicitation message was shared by Dr. N. Kumarappan, Chair, IEEE Madras Section. He congratulated the Education 4.0 team for successful conduction of the workshop. Dr. Abhay Gandhi, Chair IEEE Nagpur Subsection, also shared his felicitation message sharing his appreciation to the organising committee and the volunteering committee. Then the participants of the workshop were invited to share their experience where they commended the efforts put forward by the Education 4.0 team in the grand success. Mr. Ramneek Kalra, IEEE Impact Creator also shared his felicitation message. Next, a video having an amalgamation of experience shared by the volunteers of different sections was shared. The organizing and volunteering committee were then felicitated for their efforts by presenting them with virtual mementos. At last, the event concluded with Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Sachin Naik, Deputy Director, Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research.
