Student Branch, organized its inaugural webinar: – “What is the Real Worth of Technology?” on 28th
August 2021 from 6:00 PM -7:00 PM (IST) in the online form on WebEx Platform. The event, anchored by
Ms. Smita Taitwale & Ms. Dimple Pal, had a total attendance of 34 IEEE and non-IEEE members.
The event started with a welcome address presented by Dr. Rajashree Jain, Vice-Chair, IEEE TEMS Pune
followed by the IEEE Technology & Engineering Management Society Chapter inauguration ceremony.
Mr. Prashant Joshi, Chair, IEEE TEMS Pune, began the proceedings by briefing the audience about IEEE
TEMS Chapter, Pune. He talked about the vision and aim of IEEE TEMS and its initiation in the IEEE Pune
Section. Mr. Girish Khilari, Chair, IEEE Pune Section was requested to give the inaugural address for the
IEEE TEMS Chapter. Sir congratulated the team for the inauguration of the chapter and wished for its
grand success. The anchors then requested Mr. Girish Khilari to kindly pronounce the IEEE TEMS Chapter
Pune open and also unveil the Chapter Website.
The inauguration ceremony was followed by the inaugural webinar on – “What is the real worth of
Technology?” presented by Mr. Srini Kulkarni, Vice-Chair IEEE TEMS, Pune. Sir talked about different
innovative ideas and how they translate to a solution acceptable by the market. The topic of “What can
any technology deliver in real terms and its potential?” was also brought up along with a brief about
many engineering disciplines that help find solutions by incorporating multiple technologies and
over-the-horizon vision for managing the risks of the various ever-improving technologies. He concluded
his session by mentioning the Focus areas of IEEE Technology & Engineering Management Society.
Subsequently, there was a session of questions and answers where the participants cleared their doubts
by asking questions to the speaker. The event concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Dr. Neha
Sharma, Secretary, IEEE, Pune Section.
