IEEE Bombay Section Congress – 2017

IBSC 2017 was a volunteer gathering of IEEE Members from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Goa. A three days long event comprising of guest lectures, activities, sight-seeing and cultural events was organised by IEEE Bombay Section and hosted by Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj College of Engineering, Shegaon and supported by IEEE Students’ Branch SSGMCE during 27^th, 28^th, 29^th Jan 2017.

Total 221 IEEE student members participated in the congress and benefitted through networking, technical sessions and competitions. The convener of the congress was Prof. Kiran Talele, Student Activity Chair, IEEE Bombay Section and Prof. Pravin Wankhede, Branch Counselor, IEEE Students’ Branch SSGMCE. Renowned and experienced persons delivered their technical sessions during congress.

Dr.(CDR) Arnab Das, Ex. Commander of Indian Navy, and currently associated with NUS, Singapore and scientist Maritime Research Institute, Pune delivered keynote speech on underwater domain awareness. Dr. Rajat Acharya is currently a scientist at ISRO Space Applications Center (SAC) Ahmedabad, delivered talk on Satellite Applications. Dr. Sudarshan Iyengar is a professor at Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar, delivered a talk on Crowd-Sourced Technology. He enlightened students about the working and development of the technology that involves a huge contribution from common public and how people unknowingly contribute to this technology. Mr. Anthony Lobo, Chair IEEE Bombay Section delivered talk on IEEE global. Mr. Dnyanesh Kamble, Consultant, TCS Mumbai delivered talk on Intellectual property rights, IRR development and protection. Mr. Shrikanth Chandrasekaran, Director of Standard and Technology, IEEE delivered session on IEEE standards. Other sessions like cyber crime awareness, entrepreneurship, panel discussions and competitions were organised during congress.
