SCIENTIFIC MAGAZINES

■     IEEEXplore: it’s a digital library that allows web access to over 4 billion documents, with some of the most known publishings when it comes to electric engineering, informatics engineering and electronic engineering.

IEEE Xplore’s content is enriched every month of approximately 20k new documents and includes:

  • Over 184 peer-reviewed magazines
  • Over 1400 congress acts
  • Over 5000 technical standards
  • Around 2000 eBooks
  • Over 400 studying courses

for this reason, it represents a powerful resource for access to the most relevant technical and scientific articles published by IEEE and its partners.

■     IEEE Spectrum: it’s the main IEEE magazine, which has the purpose of mantaining about 400k members informed on the main trends and the developing of technology, engineering and scientific matters through blogs, podcasts, videos, news and interactive information that provide the users with clear explainations about concepts and rising subjects with details that couldn’t be found elsewhere. Keeps contact withing IEEE members on different platforms: printed editions, website accessible via PC, tablet, smartphone, email newsletters, digital edition, social networks like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

■     IEEE Potentials Magazine: it’s the public space for publishing for students (graduated and not) and the group of “young professionals” in which carreer strategies and latest news about research and technological developments are explored, where theories of practical application are made, putting evidence on the global impact of technology in daily life and generating interest in international forums which encourage sharing different ideas about profession.

CAREER SUPPORT SERVICES

■     ResumeLab: IEEE ResumeLab is an online service that allows IEEE members to develop a resume or curriculum vitae using a wide array of resume templates. Members can also perform mock interviews using over 900 potential interview questions or develop letters, portfolios, and skills assessments to use during the interview process. Best of all, the information developed on IEEE ResumeLab is easily shared with potential employers, mentors, or colleagues via a personalized website.

RECOGNITIONS AND PRIZES

  • Triennial thesis / master’s / doctoral thesis awards
  • Scolarships

COURSES

■     Free courses [EdX, Class Central]: IEEE offers its student members the opportunity of following interesting online courses, often completely free and generally with a 50% reduction in price. Offered courses by IEEE span a wide range of thematics, from general ones, to specific ones, they are divided by competence grade (Introductive, Intermediate, Advanced) and constitute an important resource to improve and extend one’s personal knowledge baggage, his working profile and accelerate the carreer.

■     IEEE.tv: it’s a full portal dedicated to multimedia content on different thematics related to technology and IEEE’s activity worldwide. The main section are about

  • Lessons, seminars and tutorials on technolocial matters;
  • New developments and trends on worldwide technology;
  • Carreer possibilities in new technological areas;
  • Technical tours on workplaces;
  • Historical perspectives on engineering’s past and on IEEE’s role in its development;
  • Services and products offered by IEEE to members and the public;
  • Reports on local events, meetings and conferences;
  • Communities, Regions and Societies activities

■    Student Travel Grants: many Societies of IEEE offer “student travel grants”, economic aids to support student members who need to take part in a conference or present a work. At times, in a limited number, additional grants are available for student members who want simply watch the conference.

A PROFESSIONAL NETWORK

■     GoogleApps@IEEE: With GoogleApps@IEEE, members gain a robust capability for messaging with access to email, calendar, and contact services from any Internet-connected computer. In addition, members will also have access to Google Drive, Google+, and Picasa. With the use of these services there are varying degrees of privacy.

GoogleApps@IEEE is available to members at no additional cost. Users will have access to:

■     IEEE Collabratec: IEEE Collabratec™ is an integrated online community where technology professionals can network, collaborate, and create — all in one central hub. The IEEE Collabratec™ online community offers a suite of productivity tools and is available to technology professionals around the world with exclusive features for IEEE members. IEEE Collabratec can help you connect with global technology professionals by location, technical interests, or career pursuits, access research and collaborative authoring tools and establish a professional identity to showcase key accomplishments.

■     Online communities: it’s the online space offered by IEEE to a group of individuals with the same purpose or common interests, who have the need to gather in a place where they can discuss vital matters in a determined technical area. Communities online also constitute an opportunity to create a network with other members, to find colleagues and suggestions from experts, as well as collaborating to the various activities promoted by IEEE. The most interestin aspect is that there are no geographical limitations or time restrictions to participate.

STUDENT COMPETITIONS

■     IEEEXtreme: a global challenge in which teams of IEEE Student members—advised and proctored by an IEEE member, and often supported by an IEEE Student Branch—compete in a 24-hour time span against each other to solve a set of programming problems.

HUMANITARIAN PROGRAMS AND INITIATIVES

■     SIGHT: A global network of IEEE volunteers partnering with underserved communities & local organizations to leverage technology for sustainable development.
