ROBOTICS WEEKS EVENT

Robotics Week is a popular event based in the United States of America. The goal of Robotics Week is to showcase the latest advancements in robotics technology, highlight the contributions of robotics to society, and promote education and career opportunities in robotics-related fields. Activities during Robotics Week include robotics competitions, demonstrations, workshops, and educational events.

Robotics Week 2023

Sessions Day

Robotics Week took place on Saturday, May 20, 2023, and was held at Amman (outside Hashemite University). This day included the event opening ceremony and many different activities. The biggest part of the day was dedicated to sessions presenting and talking about various topics related to robotics, which included a debate. Additionally, there was entertainment throughout.

Sessions topics:

  • Opining Ceremony.
  • First session: Unlocking Robotics a New Era for Engineers with Eng.Sufyan Tarawneh.
  • Second session: QUILL Robots with CEO Alaa Alkhalayleh.
  • Debate: Autonomous cars must prioritize the safety of their occupants over the safety of pedestrians.
  • Third session :Fifth Industrial Revolution with Dr.Moudar Zgoul.

Workshops

Throughout the remainder of the week (Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday), numerous training workshops were held, covering a variety of technical topics in robotics. These workshops didn’t only provide theoretical knowledge; they also incorporated hands-on training to enhance practical skills in the field. Participants had the opportunity to apply what they learned during the workshops to further develop their technical skills.

Workshops topics:

  • 3D printing.
  • ROS.
  • Arduino.
  • Fusion 360.

Booths Day

On Tuesday, May 23rd, 2023, exciting activities took place at the Faculty of Engineering at our university (Hashemite University). The event featured a full-day booth showcasing various topics related to robotics in collaboration with companies in the field as well as all the IEEE-HU branch societies. Also, attendees had the opportunity to explore and learn about different robots created by Jordanian students from various universities by showing their robots and projects on this day.

Robotics Week 2022

Sessions Day

It was introduced locally for the students in its first edition in Jordan by the IEEE RAS Hashemite University Student Chapter, and it was held between the 20th and 24th of March, 2022. The event targets engineering students to introduce them to the world of robotics and to increase their knowledge, skills, and experience by including different activities covering various.

The first day held three sessions, which were lectured by young engineers who have massive experience in the field of robotics.

Sessions topics:

  • Self-awareness for Robotics: The session was presented by Eng.Zaid Al Shamli.
  • Space Exploration Robotics: the session was presented by Eng. Zaid Nader.
  • Drones Robotics: in collaboration with the MARS Robotics company

Arduino Workshop

In cooperation with the STEAM Center, the workshop took place on the second day of Robotics Week. It introduced the students to the basics of Arduino and taught them how to deal with different types of sensors and how to program them in order to start working on projects using it on their own.

Ball Collector Competition

The IEEE HU RAS Chapter hosted a (Ball Collector Competition) among the Engineering Department students, which was the second of its kind at Hashemite University.

The competition was simultaneously held with booths with the HU SB societies (EMBS, CS, PES & IAS, and WIE), where the booths covered the integration of robotics in their fields. RAS discussed robotics in space, EMBS discussed robotics in the medical field using VR technology, PES & IAS discussed industrial robotics and automation, CS discussed detecting illness using AI, and WIE discussed social robots.
