The recently concluded Intensive Machine Learning course, spanning 12 hours, provided participants with a comprehensive journey into the dynamic world of Machine Learning (ML). Hosted at Shai For AI company, the course covered a lot of topics aimed at equipping attendees with foundational knowledge and practical skills in ML.
Course Structure:
The course commenced with an insightful Day 1 session, introducing participants to the fundamental concepts of Machine Learning. Topics ranged from understanding the different types of machine learning and its applications to the intricacies of data preprocessing, covering data cleaning, normalization, and scaling. The day also featured an overview of supervised learning, delving into regression and classification.
Day 2: Advanced Topics in Machine Learning:
Building on the basics, Day 2 explored advanced ML topics. Attendees were immersed in clustering techniques, the critical aspects of train/test split, and the importance of cross-validation techniques. The session also delved into performance metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score, along with an exploration of feature selection methodologies having Eng.Moutasem Yousef covering all that in day 1 and 2.
Day 3: Advanced Applications and Deep Learning:
The course concluded with a focus on advanced applications and deep learning. Participants gained insights into the basics of neural networks and were introduced to deep learning frameworks. The session covered Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs), offering a glimpse into their applications. An important highlight was the discussion on ethical considerations in machine learning, emphasizing the responsibility associated with implementing ML models, all these topics were covered by the three superior engineers Engineer Adel Kayali, Engineer Mohammed al-Matari and Engineer Tariq Ibrahim, with outstanding expertise in data science and artificial intelligence.
The student branch of IEEE HU coordinated a visit for members to the Jordanian Center for Design and Development (JODDB), which included exploratory tours around it to learn about some defense and security systems and methods of manufacturing them. To meet the defense needs in preparation for the establishment of an industrial base in Jordan.
Our scientific field trip to the Arabia Weather Company was undertaken with the primary objectives of enhancing our comprehension of meteorology and gaining deeper insights into the pivotal role weather plays in our daily lives. The Forecasting Center, the nerve center of Arabia Weather, welcomed us with a buzz of activity as experts meticulously analyzed weather patterns, monitored atmospheric conditions, and fine-tuned their sophisticated models. Our immersion into the operations of the center provided us with a firsthand look at the art and science of weather forecasting.
Upon entering the heart of ArabiaWeather’s operations, we found ourselves amidst the intricate workings of the weather station. This pivotal facility showcased how data is collected from an array of sensors, satellites, and ground stations. Witnessing the meticulous process of transforming raw data into accurate forecasts left us in awe. The seamless integration of cutting-edge technologies in the forecasting process was particularly enlightening, emphasizing the complexity and precision involved in predicting weather phenomena.
Annually, IEEE HU organizes an officers gathering, providing a platform for all committee members to convene and foster deeper connections within the organization. This gathering serves as an invaluable opportunity for committee members to acquaint themselves with one another, facilitating better collaboration and cohesion throughout the year.
Additionally, the event serves as a forum to discuss pertinent matters beneficial to the committee’s functioning, allowing for the exchange of ideas and feedback. Through open dialogue and constructive engagement, officers are empowered to address challenges, capitalize on opportunities, and contribute meaningfully to the growth and success of IEEE HU.
Each year, as the new committee assume their roles as officers in IEEE HU, they undergo comprehensive training facilitated by the chairs and past chairs of the organization. This training serves as an invaluable introduction to the type of work and the dynamic work environment within IEEE HU. Through a structured program, new officers gain knowledge of their responsibilities, the organization’s mission, and the collaborative ethos that drives IEEE HU forward.
