IEEE HU SB History

The Hashemite University Student Branch of IEEE has carved a dynamic legacy since its inception in 2002. Positioned within the IEEE Region 8 and a crucial part of Jordan Section, this student branch has continually exemplified a commitment to excellence, innovation, and holistic member development.

  • 2002: Branch Foundation

Marking its genesis, the branch was established, laying the foundation for what would become a hub of technological innovation and academic excellence within the university.

 

A significant stride in promoting diversity and inclusivity, the establishment of the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group highlighted the commitment to fostering gender diversity and supporting women in technology.

The inception of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) Student Chapter showcased a focus on the intersection of technology and healthcare, fostering advancements in biomedical engineering.

The establishment of the IEEE Computer Society (CS) Student Chapter emphasized the importance of computer science and its growing impact across industries.

The initiation of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) Student Chapter underscored a dedication to exploring the frontiers of robotics and automation.

  • 2016: Establishing IEEE Educational Activities Sub-Committee

A commitment to educational excellence manifested in the establishment of an Educational Activities Sub-Committee, focusing on fostering learning opportunities beyond the traditional curriculum.

The collaboration between the Power & Energy Society (PES) and Industrial Applications Society (IAS) through a Joint Student Chapter highlighted a focus on power systems and industrial applications.


Strategies for Growth and Engagement

Embracing a strategy centered on diversity, engagement, and collaboration, the student branch witnessed exponential growth. Diversification of activities catered to varied interests while personalized engagement addressed individual member goals. Collaborative projects showcased the advantages of a robust network, contributing to community expansion.
