Developing a Computational model of the Marine Ecosystem in Mauritius

Dr Kieran Tierney is a researcher at the Scottish Universities Environmental Research Centre, University of Glasgow. His PhD involved studies of the fate of radionuclides discharged by the Sellafield nuclear fuel reprocessing facility to the UK marine environment and development of contaminant tracing within the ecosystem modelling suite, Ecopath with Ecosim (EwE). In this talk he will discuss ecosystem model development in the context of exploring the ecological effects of the MV Wakashio oil spill in Mauritius.  This is the one of the first times the marine eco-system in Mauritius has been extensively modelled using computer software.
