Tech Brush Up was our first major event. It held in January 2022 at the School of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SEET) complex. Our aim with this event was to reintroduce IEEE to our fellow students while collaborating with other tech groups on campus.
Under the leadership of the chair, Odii Marshall, we hosted a meet-up for tech enthusiasts.
Beginning with a warm welcome address, the chair extensively discussed IEEE as a community, its purpose, and the benefits of being an IEEE member. Citing himself as an example, he narrated his personal experiences with the community.
We also had talks from the various sub-community chairs (Computer Society, Power and Energy, Robotics and Automation, and Women in Engineering). They elaborated in detail, on the histories of their respective communities, reasons for the establishment, and the member benefits.
Moreover, this event was honoured by the community leaders of Google Developers Students Club FUTO, and the community manager of Genesys, a tech community focused on increasing tech awareness among young people.
With over 90 attendees and guest appearances from sister tech communities on campus, Tech Brush-Up was an astounding success.
