IEEE AI Technical Group: What should you expect?

Hello! I am excited to anounce that we would be kickstarting the IEEE University of Ibadan Student Branch Artificial Intelligence Technical Group. We invite all students to join us in this initiative, regardless of your current level of understanding in the field. Our group is dedicated to exploring the world of Artificial Intelligence through extensive discussions, hands-on projects, collaborative learning and of cause periodic meet-ups, physical or virtual as the case may be

What to Expect?

  1. Inclusive Meetups and Meetings: Everyone is welcome to attend our meetups and meetings, all we expect from you is an interest in the field and a yearn to learn new things and collaborate with brilliant minds to build cool things and understand technical papers. We try to ensure all participants feel comfortable and supported. Whether you are just starting out or have some experience in AI, you will find value in our activities and discussions.
  2. Learning and Collaboration: Our group focuses on reading and explaining AI research papers, implementing cutting-edge algorithms, and training deep learning models to solve real-world problems. You will have the opportunity to work on projects that aim to push the boundaries of current AI technologies competing with industry norms.
  3. Assumed Knowledge: We assume that participants have a basic understanding of Python programming and some experience with deep learning, irrespective of the framework, Tensorflow or Pytorch. This knowledge would help you to get the most out of our sessions and contribute effectively to group projects.

To kickstart our activities, please check out this book here. Go through it and attempt some of the simple exercises provided. Although the book is written in TensorFlow, we will primarily work with PyTorch. The concepts are transferable—convolutions, for example, are the same whether used in TensorFlow or PyTorch.
