On July 15, 2024, the IEEE Region 8 Student and Young Professional Congress took place in Grenoble, France. Despite the intense heat, with temperatures reaching 33°C, representatives from the University of Bolton, including Lovelyanna Okafor (Assistant Secretary) and Rukayat Balogun (Chair), were in full attendance.

This biennial congress, held at MINATEC, the center for micro/nano technologies, aims to enhance engineering skills through workshops and keynote talks. The event opened with a ceremony at the historic Château de Sassenage, fostering networking and alliances. Topics discussed included women in engineering, technological advances, and sustainability.

The day concluded with a cultural night at Stade des Alpes, featuring food, drinks, and music from various Region 8 countries. The congress provided a platform for participants to discuss solutions to global challenges, solidifying the IEEE Student Branch of Bolton’s commitment to technological advancement and global collaboration.

The IEEE Student Branch counsellor, Dr. Celestine Iwendi, expressed gratitude to the Head of the School of Arts and Creative Technologies, Sam Johnson for the support rendered, enabling students to attend this remarkable convention.
