KCL IEEE Community Seminar 2023
King’s College London’s IEEE branch teamed up with Engineering PhD students from UK and Germany to host the first main event of the academic year on 2nd of June. The event was kicked off by Prof Charles Turner, Life Fellow IEEE who taked about the history of IEEE, its work in UK, Ireland and Europe, and the benefits of IEEE membership to students and researchers.
Then undergraduate students Theo and Victoria gave an insightful presentation on their projects in battery technologies, covering fast charging technologies and sustainable materials respectively.
The first invited talk was given by Dr Dawei Qiu from Imperial College London where he talked about use advanced AI algorithms in deregulated energy markets. This was followed by Xiaodong Li, PhD candidate at TU Munich, who talked about his work and latest developments in the field of High-temperature superconductors for large-scale thermonuclear fusion reactors.
The session ended with a networking session where participants interacted with each other over refreshments.
