IEEE Northumbria Student Branch (IEEE NSB) in Collaboration with IEEE Young Professionals Affinity Group, and IET have successfully conducted a UK&I professional networking event. The current committee of IEEE NSB have managed the event throughout, procuring the room, attracting the attendees and serving the needs of the event on the day.
The attendees had a chance to hear from local and national speakers, network and enjoy free food and drinks. Dr. Khalid Hashim delivered a talk on getting published in a quality journal, sharing his insights and experience in this area. His structured talk touched on every aspect of the process, from choosing which data to publish and how to select a journal, to the key points which every section of the paper should have.
Dr. Rishad Shafik delivered an illuminating talk about the present and the future of electronics design under the conditions of unknown and/or uneven power supply to a given circuit. He gave a broad overview of the problem, and focused on the hardware solutions to the unpredictable (and often low) power supply to electronics.
All in all, there was a lot of talking, networking, and connections made between the local branch, IEEE Newcastle Uni, and IEEE Young Professionals, both in the UK and Ireland.
