IEEE Oregon Tech – Wilsonville Branch

Oregon Tech Students Attend IEEE Rock Stars of Cybersecurity

Oregon Tech students from the Wilsonville Campus are home from the IEEE Rock Stars of Cybersecurity Conference held in Seattle on September 13. This one day event was packed with professional speakers who addressed ways to protect organization and personal data with strong solutions. Speakers from Google, PayPal, Intel, and Motorola gave actionable advice on securing intellectual property by preventing password phishing, algorithms to identify fraud, complying with regulations, and addressing insider threats.  Two of our students won new technology prizes during the Bingo and Raffle drawings. We brought home several free IEEE publications of the magazine Computing Edge, The Struggle to Provide Security, for our students. A guest speaker from the conference will be hosting a workshop at Oregon Tech this fall on Risk Based Assessment. For anyone interested in learning more about Cybersecurity, Oregon Tech offers Fundamentals of Information Security (MIS407-19758)  this Fall, on Thursday nights, with Professor Rosenberg, in Wilsonville.

Please go to “Web For Student” to sign up. Classes start September 26.
