Radio Direction Finding “Foxhunt”
April 12, 2022 @ 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM EDT
This Tuesday, April 12th, engineers from Rohde and Schwarz will be bringing students along on a mobile field demonstration of Radio Direction Finding (RDF). During this workshop, subject matter experts James Morgante and Joe Gallagher will be giving an on-campus explanation and demonstration of radio direction finding, after which they will be performing a mobile field demonstration of finding a hidden transmitter using a van equipped with Rohde and Schwarz equipment as a mobile radio direction finding setup.
This field demonstration, known as a “Fox Hunt” in Amateur Radio circles, is useful for locating the source of noise, interference, and locating intentional transmissions. It has a broad range of applications in industries such as communications, electronics, RF engineering, and defense, as well as hobbies involving radio.
