Radio Direction Finding “Foxhunt”

April 12 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm EDT

This Tuesday, April 12th, engineers from Rohde and Schwarz will be bringing students along on a mobile field demonstration of Radio Direction Finding (RDF). During this workshop, subject matter experts James Morgante and Joe Gallagher will be giving an on-campus explanation and demonstration of radio direction finding, after which they will be performing a mobile field demonstration of finding a hidden transmitter using a van equipped with Rohde and Schwarz equipment as a mobile radio direction finding setup.

This field demonstration, known as a “Fox Hunt” in Amateur Radio circles, is useful for locating the source of noise, interference, and locating intentional transmissions. It has a broad range of applications in industries such as communications, electronics, RF engineering, and defense, as well as hobbies involving radio. If you are interested in the event, sign up using the google form link below. Limited seats available.
