Meeting 3/27 and Officer Elections

We have scheduled a meeting for Thursday, March 27 at 7pm in RRO 001B.  On the agenda for this meeting:

  • FOOD.  Specifically, pizza and a “make your own hot fudge sundae” bar.
  • LinkedIn.  The must-have for all students who will (eventually) enter the workforce…assuming you pass your engineering classes that is…
  • Officer elections for 2014-2015.

We will use this meeting as an opportunity for IEEE student branch members to start or improve their LinkedIn profiles, connect with each other, socialize, and get tips on what to add to your profile as you progress through your engineering degree.  Please bring your laptop if you have one, as desktop computers are limited in number.

OFFICER ELECTIONS: The current officers are “passing the torch.” If you wish, nominate someone you think would be great as an IEEE officer.  It would be a good idea to actually ask the person if he or she is willing to take on the responsibility first.  Send nominations to me via emailWe will vote on the nominated officers at this meeting so that they have a chance to become familiar with their roles before the summer vacation.  It kind of goes without saying, but nominate only IEEE members please (see list of email recipients).

Visit the officer webpage for info on officer titles and duties.

It may sound like a lot, but in my not-so-humble opinion, being an IEEE officer is worth every bit of effort you put into the organization.  You get to work with a fantastic group of people, meet dozens if not hundreds of professional contacts (you never know who will end up hiring you…), participate in some amazing activities, and help the sanity of engineering students (by stocking the drink machine of course).  And yes, you get to put some awesome sauce on your resume and LinkedIn profile.

FYI:  There is a special from now until August 15 for half-priced membership through December 2014 for $16!
