Eaton Plant Tour March 28

All engineering students are invited to attend this tour of the Eaton Corporation plant in South Asheville, as well as IEEE student branch members. Here are the details:

  • Date of tour: Friday, March 28
  • The tour will start at 10am and finish around noon.
  • We will leave campus at 9:30am and return to campus about 1:30pm.  (Meet at 9:15am in-between Rhoades 001B and the shop)
  • The tour is free, but bring money for lunch (12 Bones on Sweeten Creek Rd) if you plan on eating with the group afterward.  You can usually get a good meal for $10-15.
  • We have one university van to accommodate 7 people. The rest of us will need to carpool.  We will work this out Friday morning.
  • If you have to get back to campus (or go straight to work) right after the tour, that’s fine.
  • Bring safety glasses and safety-toe shoes if you have them. If not, they can provide slip-on safety-toe shoes and glasses. Do wear flat-soled, closed-toed shoes if you don’t have safety-toe shoes.  Safety-toe shoes are either steel-toe or aluminum-toe with full coverage.
  • No cameras or phones are allowed on the tour.
  • No tobacco products are allowed in the facility or on the grounds.
  • You must stay with your tour group at all times.
  • This goes without saying, but we expect your best behavior at all times. You are representing UNC-Asheville, the engineering department, and IEEE.
  • Look at the email Hallie sent out with the list of people who have signed up.  If you are NOT on that list and submitted your form, it must have not gone through. Sometimes on smartphones these forms are problematic, also you needed to submit the form using your email address.  Email Hallie by Thursday noon if you’re not on that list and are planning to go on the tour.
  • Wear long pants.  You don’t have to dress up, but you may wish to dress in business casual.  Considering EATON could become your employer, first impressions do count.
