Scott attended Memphis State (now known as Memphis University) and graduated with this BS in Electrical Engineering in 1984. Scott worked full time while getting his degree and worked as a Design and Manufacturing Engineer. His first position after graduation was in sales, and then he moved to Texas in 1986 to work for General Dynamics (now Lockheed) as a Manufacturing Engineer. In 1991 he moved back to sales, working in direct, distributor, and representative sales positions for various companies.

In 1995 Scott decided to start his own company to provide the sales and engineering services that he was familiar with. PhaseCom was incorporated in February 1996 and consisted of two employees, Scott Trickey and his founding partner. By the end of 1996 they had hired their first full-time employee and continued to expand.

Presently, Scott owns or manages multiple companies, including Pro-Comp Sales, which specializes in electromechanical and passive components, and Onsite Signal Solutions, which provides engineering support, product sourcing, warehousing and kitting/industrial assembly solutions. To house all these companies, Scott also has real estate holdings that include executive suites to provide office space for small and expanding companies. He manages 15+ employees in the DFW Metroplex, Austin, and Houston.

In his spare time Scott shares his technical expertise and experiences by giving demonstrations at ham radio shows, amateur radio clubs, the National Association of Broadcast Engineers, public safety system engineers, and OEM companies and speaking with students at various school events.
