Arduino Advanced Workshop

The NodeMCU is a development microcontroller, similar to Arduino boards, that uses an integrated Wi-Fi receiver and allows Internet of Things (IoT) projects. With a little bit of preparation, we can program the NodeMCU with the Arduino language. This way we can expand upon our programming knowledge and projects by integrating resources over the Internet! IEEE is teaming up with SHPE, MECH, GDC, and SCP to host a special mini-hackathon, Hack Jam. Hack Jam is the perfect place to experience what a hackathon is all about! They will be disseminating information regarding full time Engineering positions as well as summer internship positions. At the conclusion of the session, Engineers and Managers from Lockheed Martin will be available to talk to candidates interested in career opportunities in Engineering at MFC Orlando, FL.

Students majoring in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Math, and Physics, are the primary degrees of interest.


Robotics & Automation Presentation

Come join us for a sneak peak into the projects and processes happening at IEEE USF involving robotics! Two speakers, David and Yehia, will take you through our projects from start to finish. David will show off how last year’s SoutheastCon autonomous robot was made while explaining the design and manufacturing process. Yehia will showcase creating a “Wall-E Bot” and explain the technical knowledge required to build such a cool robot. He will also show off the progress of some of our other projects: including the quadcopter. If you’re interested in what we are up to, or the science behind it, come out and join us!

IEEE Mentorship 1st Meeting

Our mentorship team is a partnership between an upperclassmen and underclassmen (usually undergrads) that works together design and build their own personal project! We will display the projects at Engineering Expo held by USF on February 21 and 22, 2020.

Our first meeting will be this Wednesday at 5pm in ENC 1000, so join us with an idea of what you’d like to work on. We are looking for both mentors and mentees, both who are willing to take some time to meet up and build something amazing! We also want mentors to teach and share valuable college experiences to those who need it most. If you are interested in being a mentor or mentee, please sign up below. Basic OpenCV Python Workshop

Robotics Meeting

The Robotics and Automation Society of the Florida West Coast Section together with the University of South Florida IEEE Student section are hosting a meeting on August 16th at The Design for X Laboratory in the College of Engineering at 6:30 pm where they will feature participants of the 2016 IEEE SouthEastCon Hardware (Robotics) competition. The robot and field will be on display. This will be a great chance to learn more about the group and the challenges associated with the competition and how they were dealt with. Additionally, this is also a great time to network with professionals from the section.

IEEE Xtreme Programming Competition

This is a 24 hour long programming competition with Universities all over the globe. This event gives you the skills needed to become a better programmer. With a new problem coming out every hour during a 24 hour period it gives you plenty of practice. We will soon be forming teams.

Art Nordlinger – “Setting yourself apart from the pack”

Come learn how to set yourself apart from the pack when finding a job. Taking the gre, gmat, fe exam, professional societies, grad school, and getting a PE license are all things that can help you do just that.



Art is a registered Professional Engineer in Florida, and teaches portions of a Fundamentals of Engineering review course that reaches a national audience through a web cast. Art has also taught graduate courses at the University of South Florida in Power System Analysis and Advanced Energy Management Systems and review classes for the Professional Engineer (PE) licensing exam.

 3D Printer Workshop

When: January 7th and 8th 2017

Where:  USF Tampa Campus, ENB 118

Every semester we hold a 3D printer workshop. You get a unique opportunity to learn all of the ins and outs of 3D printing, along with get some expert advice from graduate students Justin Nussbaum and TJ Ross who are students here at USF focusing on 3D printing technologies. You get to leave the workshop with your very own printer along with all the tools necessary to take it home with you and print anything you image from the comfort of your own home!

USF 2017 Engineering Expo

When: Febrauary 17th and 18th 2017

The Engineering Expo is an event that celebrates National Engineering week. All Engineering Departments within USF create exhibits and shows to inspire students from primary and secondary education to become engineers. IEEE USF has participated in this event for more than 15 years and is well-known for its LASER show.

The Senior Banquet is held in honor of the EE Department graduating class each semester. This is a formal event with dinner and great speakers. We have one at the end of each semester for our graduating seniors. We invite Professors, and well as representatives from local companies to attend as well.
