IEEE National Presents: Standards as a Career Superpower
Thursday, 14 October 2021 at 5:00 PM Mountain
World Standards Day is Thursday, October 14th! Join us for a career-critical overview of what industry expects you to know about standards. In real world engineering, what you don’t know can hurt you – and your career! Gary Thompson (Toronto Hydro) and Jalyn Kelley (IEEE) will discuss how standards knowledge can set you apart from your peers, why standards are vital to the product development process, and how engineers use standards in their job.
This presentation on the role IEEE plays in an engineer’s education and career, will include an overview of:  

• Career Resources & Tools for Job Searching
• Recommendations for attending career fairs
• How to stand out in an interview
• Scholarships & Student Competitions
• Networking opportunities 
• IEEE Xplore Digital Library 
• Live Q&A with an IEEE representative
 
There will be 2 options to attend this event:
In person: This option will be held at the IEEE Lounge. Free food will be available. You will also get a free IEEE shirt if you attend in person (Attending in person will give you 2 hours instead of 1).
