The annual student competitions for IEEE Region 5 was held in Springdale, Arkansas on the 6th and 7th of April, 2024. Wichita State University recorded their highest participation in the R5 with ten students taking part in the cyber challenge, circuit design and student presentation competitions.

Mary Peterson won first place for her student presentation titled ‘Economic and service reliability comparison of operation strategies for utility-scale solar with battery’. The WSU team of Jack Delmar, Carlos Renato Soverina Figueroa and Benjamin Serrano won third place in the cyber challenge competition.
