Baptized as Maria Salomea Skłodowska, she was born in the city of Warsaw, situs slot77 present-day Poland, on November 7, 1867. She was the fifth and youngest daughter of slot77 professors Władysław Skłodowski and Bronisława Boguska.
At the end of 1891, she moved to Paris, where she became known as Marie and continued her studies in physics, mathematics and chemistry at the University of Paris, where she would become the first woman admitted as a professor at the institution. That same year, she met Pierre Curie, who would become her husband and share the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1903, along with Henri Becquerel.
Eight years later, she received the 1911 Nobel Prize in Chemistry in recognition of her services to the advancement of chemistry. With a generous attitude, she did not patent the radium isolation process, allowing the investigation of this element’s properties by the entire scientific community.
