Sonia Guimarães foi a primeira doutora negra em Física do Brasil e em 1993 se tornou a primeira professora negra do Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronaútica (ITA), que na epóca ainda não aceitava mulheres no vestibular.

Fearless Women – Marie Curie

Valentina Vladimirovna Tereshkova was born in March 1937 in Bolshoye Maslennikovo. She was the first cosmonaut and the first woman to have gone into space, on June 16, 1963, on the Vostok 6 spacecraft.
At age 16, when she left school, she started studying skydiving. At age 25, she joined the Russian Vostok space program, which intended to select two female astronauts to go into space.
Despite the fact that she left school young and was the least academically experienced of the group, she stood out among the competitors for the position.
After many tests, Valentina was one of the two finalists of the program. With just one trip, she circled the globe 48 times in a period of 71 hours. She returned to Earth with photographs of the space horizon, and was named a Hero of the Soviet Union, awarded the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal. In addition, in the place where she landed, there is a silver statue that portrays her, and there was a crater on the Moon and an asteroid named in her honor.
