We are excited to announce the second event in the Cork IEEE Student Branch “Gift of the Gab” talk series.

Speaker: Marinara Marcato
Topic: get inspired, explore opportunities, accomplish your goals, connect with peers and (most importantly) enjoy the journey as a Post-Grad Student.

About Marinara:  
Marinara Marcato is a PhD Student at Tyndall National Institute, the founder of SMART Edu Club and an entrepreneur in the IGNITE Start-up Incubator Programme at University College Cork. In her talk, she will discuss various aspects of her PhD journey including research, entrepreneurship, and practical tips to on how you can make the most of your postgraduate experience. 

The topics covered in the talk include:

  • Research: artificial intelligence meets canine performance assessment: how machine learning is applied to multi-parameter datasets to identify the most suitable candidates for service dog training at the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind (IGDB). 
  • Entrepreneurship: her journey from the inception of SMART Edu Club to running international events with NASA Goddard Centre to promote STEM education for children. 
  • PhD Experience: practical tips for you to enhance your Post-Graduate experience: how to overcome challenges, achieve your goals, create meaningful connections with like-minded peers and entirely enjoy the process of earning a postgraduate degree! 

After the talk, there will be the opportunity to join small breakout rooms where we can discuss research and get to know each other.
