Low-cost Millimeter-wave Antenna Array for Wireless Future

IEEE AP-MTTS Student Branch chapter, IIT Kharagpur, under the umbrella of the Kharagpur section, organized an online Invited Talk on 1st June 2022 on the topic “Low-cost Millimeter-wave Antenna Array for Wireless Future.” The talk was delivered by Dr. Zhijiao Chen, Associate Professor, School of Electronic Engineering, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT).

The talk was enormously stimulating, and the listeners got a great insight into research trends in the field as a takeaway. Dr. Chen skillfully analyzed the challenges for mmWave communications in the wireless future and presented distinguished advantages and limitations of the existing mmWave antenna technologies. The challenges and opportunities of designing mmWave antennas to satisfy the specifications of the 5G and B5G had been summarized in the talk. The recent research on mmWave antenna array designs, that are being performed by their group were discussed with the highlight on their design considerations. Finally, she presented some other works on mmWave antenna design for the wireless future.

The talk was attended by 24 participants (AP:1, MTT:5, Both (AP, MTT):9, other IEEE:0 & non-IEEE:9) from India and abroad. The event was praised by one and all present there.
