IEEE Student Branch IIT Kharagpur is among 20 institutions worldwide that receive the IEEE University Partnership Program (UPP) Grant annually. In India, only two institutions hold this distinction: IIT Kharagpur and IISc Bangalore. While the UPP Grant is awarded once a year, institutions can also apply for the Special Opportunity Grant (SoG) to support flagship events with direct societal impact.
Recently, our IEEE UPP Liaison of IEEE Student Branch IIT Kharagpur, Mr. Aakashjit Bhattacharya secured the IEEE UPP Special Opportunity Grant to fund the Digital Health Symposium and Roundtable 2023—a national-level symposium aimed at bridging the gap between the fast-evolving digital world and medical science. The symposium brought together academicians and industrialists on a common platform to address future pandemic preparedness, including the potential threat of Disease X.
This groundbreaking event featured a peer-reviewed poster presentation in a hybrid format and was attended by distinguished medical practitioners, doctors, researchers, and industrialists from across India. Many of these experts played a crucial role and contributed significantly towards the fight against the global pandemic caused due to CovID-19.
In addition to securing this special grant, Mr. Bhattacharya also utilized the regular USD 2000 UPP Grant to sponsor another flagship event, IEEE UpSkill: EnMed 2023, along with other key initiatives.
A brief description of UPP: –
