APPLE TO APPLE

The most magnificent and sumptuous event of IEEE and WIE clubs for the academic year 2021-2022 was tagged as “APPLE TO APPLE”. The event was catalogued on 24/07/2021 by virtually between 3:40 to 4:30 pm. The prominent intent of this event is to stead up the evolutionary and revolutionary essence of modern technologies. The event was organized and ordered by Mr. K. Vishwaugh of III ECE A and Ms. J. Rufina of III CSE B.

Many students from various departments had registered their role vividly through chat box. The commencing segment “Guess the product based on the CEO” enhances the students to revoke current updates with technologies. Many students actively participated and ordered the chronology of evolution in “Evolution of Things”. Students smashed and squeezed their brain to get answer in ”Riddles and Rebus” and finally they made it. The event made the students to get a comprehensive view of technologies so that it will never fade from their impression. The event was headed by our branch counsellor Dr. C. Kalyana Sundaram M.E, Phd. Assistant professor Department of ECE.

BLOW OUT JUNIES

The most awaited event of the IEEE and WIE clubs for recruiting the Office Bearers of tenderfoots (2020-2024) was entitled as “BLOW OUT JUNIES”. The event was held on 29/04/2021 through Google meet (virtually).

The main intention of the event was to make the freshers come up with their skills confidently and to pursuit deserving candidates who could serve as the  Office bearers of IEEE and WIE. The entire event was assembled and organized by K. Ramkumar of II CSE C and S. Sowmya of II ECE A.

Many students across various department passionately enrolled and engaged. The aim of the first phase was to analyze the technical skills and critical thinking of the students. The response given by all the students were remarkable and intact in their own perspectives and it helped us shortlist them. The second phase of event was conducted on  01\05\2021 virtually. The event envisioned on testing their communication skills and creativity. Participants as usual nailed us with their acknowledgement for the questions raised by the office bearers and gave us a rugged job for screening. The winners of these events were made as the office bearers of IEEE STB 29681. The event was guided by our branch

Tech fusion

Name                   :  Tech Fusion

Date                     :   Conducted from 30/06/21 to 11/07/21

Mode                   :   Online (Website)

Conducted by      :   Ms. J. Rufina of III-CSE B and Ms. J. Alfina Graceline of III-ECE B

Headed by           :   Dr. C. Kalyana Sundaram, PhD,  Assistant-Professor(Sr. G.) – Department of ECE.

The opening virtual event of the IEEE and WIE clubs of the academic year 2021-2022 was tagged as ‘TECH FUSION’. Numerous students from various departments had took part by making out the answers from the given pictorial clues and hints. The actual objective of the event was to corelate the technical concepts and our day-to-day life, there by figuring out the technical terms. The pictures that kindled their minds turned out to be easiest laws and its applications which helped the students to approach even complex things in a simpler way. The “Who am I?” part was the most relatable to real life as it included home appliances. The event also inculcated inspirational messages that have to be decoded from the given electronics related pictures. The event enriched the relating skills of the participants and ensured they acquired some technical stuff as well. The feedback on event was pretty good and the participants suggested to scale down the difficulty level to make it a less time consuming one.

UN-PUZSLE

The distinct event of the IEEE and WIE clubs for the academic year 2020-2021 was labelled as ‘UN-PUZSLE’. The event was conducted between 13/01/2021 and 24/01/2021 by virtual mode. The event was jointly prepared and conducted by Ms. S. Samrutha of III-ECE, Ms. Malli S Anjala Monal of III- ECE and Ms. S. Sowmya of II-ECE. The prominent aim of the event was to link different scientists and their various findings in an innovative way. Many students had enthusiastically signed-up and involved by entering the names of scientists. The online unpuzzling and dial pad tracing made the students burst out their stress and refreshed them. Most of the students answered all the questions correctly. The event assisted the students to use their technical knowledge and innovation in the right proportion. The event was guided by our branch counsellor Mr. C. Kalyana Sundaram M. E., Assistant-Professor-Department of ECE.

Radio active fallout

  • On July 16 1945, The US Government made the first nuclear bomb test at a place in New Mexico desert.
  • This place is named as Trinity Site. It was a top secret mission even the then Governor of New Mexico was not known about this mission.
  • But, Kodak a film company located in New York which is far away from this site found out this top secret mission. How?
  • Kodak found out that their X-ray films had been exposed to radiation even before taking out from its packaging.
  • This led them curious and they started to find the cause for this. Initially they concluded that the exposure was due to the presence of naturally occurring radioactive substances present in the packaging material.
  • So from then, they strictly monitored the manufacturing of packaging materials and the problem never occurred until a batch manufactured in 6th August 1945. The films were already exposed to radiation before using them.
  • Again the company went on to solve this problem but this time they found out the truth.
  • After several tests they found out the presence of other radio active materials like cerium which can occur only from a nuclear fission reactions.
  • So, how did cerium end up in the packaging material ? When the nuclear fission reaction occurs in the core of the bomb, the core splits up into number of radio active isotopes.
  • These radio active substances are carried away by the wind to the atmosphere and they fall back to earth along with the rain. This is called “Radio active fallout”.
  • In this way the radio active materials end up in river waters and soils. When this contaminated water is used in manufacturing process it also contaminates the products.
  • And this is how the Kodak films got exposed prior to using them.
