The IEEE EMB Student Chapter in collaboration with IEEE EMB Bangalore Chapter of M.S.Ramaiah Institute of Technology conducted a distinguished lecture program by speaker Mohan Satyranjan on 2^nd February 2018 at MSRIT.

The first session was by Mohan Satyranjan

Mohan Satyranjan has over 25 years of experience in Research and development section.He has researched in Reconstruction from Incomplete Data & Medical Imaging.He has also focused on uCPE/NFC/SDN, Cloud, Virtualization, M2P, P2P, and Intelligent Systems in the last 6 years. Led development of Ethernet Switches, and Network Automation Platform & Applications (M2A: Junos Space & Apps.) at Juniper, Routers (at Cisco), Storage Virtualization & Management Software (at NetApp), Mobility (was lead for World’s first GPRS Phone at Motorola) at Motorola, and M2M & Industrial Automation at RDCIS.

The talk was about Biomedical Engineering and Career Guidance. He spoke of how digital stethoscopes are making a difference in the medical field. He spoke of the importance of biomedical engineers in the world and their contributions till date. He spoke how technology could bridge the gap between patients and the doctors by mentioning the potential of telemedicine.

He spoke of technologies like 3D Printing and its role in biomedical engineering. He mentioned about the Jaipur foot and how 3D printing could play a major role in development and manufacture of prosthetics.

Second session was Adithya Pasupuleti. Adithya Pasupuleti is an innovator, designer and entrepreneur developing products for people in the underserved economies. In the past he has worked on emerging technologies in the space of medical devices, environmental sensors,  and battery technology. He has worked with several organizations like HTIC – IIT Madras, IIM Bangalore, Stanford India Biodesign, Ganit Labs, Yostra Labs, IISc-Bangalore and NCBS in various capacities. He has started organizations like Little Seva, which supported underprivileged children for their education and Innovation 101 which helped in setting up innovation centers in colleges across South India. He is an alumni of  M.S.Ramaiah Institute of Technology and Stanford India Biodesign. He currently serves as CEO of Biodesign Innovation Labs which is developing medical devices for making healthcare affordable and accessible for all.

He gave an inspirational talk about innovation and startups. He showed videos about the startup IKP-Eden and their technical advancements in braille printer. He also answered our questions about internships. He gave an insight on career guidance and opportunities in bio-medical field.

Thus the distinguished lecture program was successful in providing information in the future of biomedical engineering.
