3. Get wired! Lights, Sounds, Circuits And Games (13/04/2024)
On April 13th, 2024, in celebration of Education Week, an engaging event titled “Get Wired! Lights, Sounds, Circuits And Games” was organized for the children at the Good Life Centre orphanage. This event aimed to foster curiosity and enthusiasm for science among the young minds by integrating hands-on science experiments, games, and quizzes. The event commenced with an insightful introduction about Education Week by our esteemed IEEE WIE advisor, Dr. B. Meenakshi. Her introduction set the tone for the day, highlighting the importance of education and sparking interest in the various activities planned for the children. As the day progressed, the children actively participated in the science experiments, games, and quizzes, making the event both educational and entertaining. This report aims to provide a detailed account of the activities conducted during the event, showcasing the learning experiences and the joyous moments shared with the children at the Good Life Centre.
The event began with hands-on science experiments to make concepts clear for the children. They observed acid-base reactions, witnessing colour changes and effervescence. They also explored Oobleck, a unique fluid with properties of both liquids and solids. Additionally, they learned about water’s surface tension, seeing how it enables objects to float. These engaging experiments sparked curiosity and made complex ideas easily understandable for the children.
The children enjoyed engaging games such as “Spot the Difference,” puzzles, and mazes, which challenged their observation and problem-solving skills.A highlight of the event was the interactive quizzes, where the children enthusiastically guessed names from pictures, testing their knowledge and creativity. The winners of these activities were rewarded with exciting gifts, adding to the fun-filled atmosphere of the day.
The “Get Wired! Lights, Sounds, Circuits And Games” event held at the Good Life Centre orphanage was a resounding success, capturing the curiosity and imagination of the children. Through a blend of educational science experiments and interactive games and quizzes, the event not only fostered a love for learning but also provided a platform for creativity and teamwork. The enthusiastic participation of the children, coupled with their eagerness to learn and explore, made the event truly memorable. As we reflect on this enriching experience, we are reminded of the transformative power of education and the joy it brings to young minds. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in making this event a memorable one, and we look forward to organizing more such events in the future to inspire and empower the next generation.
