National Paper Contest for Ph.D. Students-Valedictory Report
The valedictory programme of the National Level Paper contest was held in virtual mode on 21-11-2020. Prior to that 9 scholarly papers under the Computer Science category were presented by different research scholars. Dr. Ashwini B, Associate Professor, Department of Information Science and Engineering, NMAMIT, Nitte, Dr. Raghavendra S, Associate Professor in the Dept of Computer Science and Engineering Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Udupi and Dr. Santhosha Rao Associate Professor – Senior Scale, Department of Information & Communication Technology Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal participated as judges.
9 research papers in the Computer Systems category were presented by the respective research scholars. Dept of Electronics and Communication Engineering NMAMIT, Nitte were the judges of paper presentation.
In the valedictory programme Dr. Karunakara A. Kotegar, Professor and Head, Dept of Computer Application, MIT Manipal was the chief guest. “The life of a research paper is more than the life of an individual. So, a researcher should be very careful during publishing a paper. The credibility of a research paper depends on the contribution of the researcher. Every paper published should contain some original work” he said in his valedictory address. Prof. P. Shridhara Acharya, Dean, CCIS, Srinivas University, Faculty Advisor, IEEE Srinivas University Student Branch was guest of honour. In his address he said “Research is a life-long process. Our original work will have a lot of value. Researcher should focus on learning and improving the work”. Dr. P. S. Aithal, Vice-Chancellor, Srinivas University, Head, IEEE Srinivas University Student Branch will be the president said that “Researcher should contribute something to the society. Participation in competition will give a lot of experience to the research scholar. Every bit of information received in the form of suggestions by experienced researchers will be of great help for the improvement of research work.”. Mr Vinayachandra, Research Scholar College of Computer Science and Information Science, Srinivas University, Mangaluru secured the Best Paper Award with cash prize Rs. 5000/- for his research paper titled “Comprehensive and Integrated Approach to Smart and Secure Remote Public Voting System” in the Computer Systems category and Mrs Geetha Poornima, Research Scholar College of Computer Science and Information Science, Srinivas University, Mangaluru secured the Best Paper Award with cash prize Rs. 5000/- for her research paper titled “A Conceptual Cloud-Based Framework for Fitness Tracking and Performance Prediction of Swimmers” in the Computer Science category.
Dr. Krishna Prasad K, Counselor, IEEE Srinivas University Students Branch welcomed the guests and highlighted the proceedings of the National Level Paper Contest. Mr. Vijaya Raj, Vice-Chair, IEEE Srinivas University Students Branch proposed a vote of thanks. Mrs. Rajeshwari M., Chair, Programme Committee, IEEE SU SB compered the programme. Dr. A Jayanthila Devi, Branch Advisor, Dr U. C. Niranjan, Chair, IEEE Mangalore Subsection and Mr Vinayachandra, Chair, IEEE SU SB were present during the event. The program was attended by more than 60 research scholars.
