Sapienza University, founded in 1303 by Pope Boniface VIII in Rome, is one of the oldest universities in the world and a top performer in international university rankings. The first engineering course was established in 1817 by Pope Pius VII.

Sapienza with its 115.000 students is the largest  public University in Europe and the second in the world. The 115,000 students enrolled at Sapienza can choose from over 250 degree programs (Bachelors, Masters and PhDs) and 200 specialization courses.

Sapienza has 11 Faculties, 63 Departments and various research centers that drive high levels of excellence in archaeology, physics and astrophysics, as well as humanities and cultural heritage, environmental studies, nanotechnology, cellular and gene therapy, design and aerospace.

The Student Branch of the Sapienza University of Rome is continuously engaged in the organization of laboratory activities, seminars and conferences. In addition, to promote and share our activities with an increasing number of people, we have activated a two hour per week desk where we are open to receive students and to show our work and the opportunities offered by the IEEE.

Activities include:

  • Exercises in the High Voltage Laboratory
  • Exercises in the Power System Laboratory
  • Seminars in collaboration with KEMA Laboratories

Meetings

Each month a meeting of the student branch is organized, in order to share with all the members, the news about opportunities and contests and to elaborate all together new ideas and new projects to carry on in the following month. To improve the relationship between each other, dinners and aperitifs are also planned from time to time.

EEEIC is an international conference where designers and industrial people can interact directly with university researchers, manufacturers and distributors of energy equipment and discuss a wide variety of topics related to energy systems and environmental questions. Apart from helping in the general arrangement of the conference, the Sapienza’s Student Branch was also busy in organizing a student meeting during the conference to share the opportunities that IEEE offers to students, giving an example showing its activities and projects.
