Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is the world’s largest professional association with more than 350,000 members from 50 different countries, dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE and its members inspire a global community through IEEE’s highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities.
The operation of this association is divided into 10 region, including Council, Section, Chapter and Branches. IEEE also opened its membership to students in university either government or private university, especially for those who are taking Electrical and Electronic Engineering course. Students who become member in IEEE are encouraged to open one Student Branch in their university.
To date, there are 30 IEEE Student Branches in Malaysia, of which can be located at UIAM, UKM, UM, UMS, MMU, UPM, USM, UTM JB, UiTM, UTP, Uniten, UTAR, Monash University, Curtin University, UNMC, UniSel, UUM, APU, INTI International University, UTHM, UTeM, UniMAP, UniKL, UCSI University, Swinburne University, UPSI, XMUM, Geomatika University College, UTM KL, and Nilai University. IEEE-SB of Universiti Putra Malaysia is registered under Students Affair Division, UPM.
Since IEEE-SB UPM establishment in 2001, many activities have been carried out focusing on engineering skill development as well as networking affair. All the activities obtained full support from the committee, students and staffs from Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department, UPM.
