Minggu Perkasa Putra was successfully conducted on 1st September 2016 organized by Bahagian Hal Ehwal Pelajar UPM, in collaboration with PEMAJU and IEEESB UPM. This program was held between the lecturers and new students of Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering program for intake 2016/2017.
The objective of this Minggu Perkasa Putra program is to introduce the new students to the Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering program offered at Universiti Putra Malaysia. Information and resources that will allow students to make appropriate academic plans and healthy social choices were also provided during the event. This program was held together by the lecturers from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering UPM to create a welcoming environment that builds a sense of community among the incoming class and in order to connect the new students to faculty, staff and their colleagues.
This one-day program was started with the greetings from the Head of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Prof. Madya Dr. Wan Zuha Wan Hasan and followed by the talk from Prof. Madya Dr. Mohd Nizar Hamidon regarding career in the engineering field. After the group photo session, a forum entitled “Adaptation to the New Environment in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering UPM” was moderated by Dr. Noor Ain Kamsani, with speacial appearance of four panels; Prof. Dr. Mohd Hamiruce Marhaban (Panel 1), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Samsul Bahari Mohd Noor (Panel 2), Dr. Norhafiz Azis (Panel 3), and Mr Hafiz Rashidi Harun@Ramli (Panel 4). Some of the new students asked questions regarding the academic plans and social activities during the Q&A Session. After the forum session, a talk was given by the Academic Coordinators of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Anom Ahmad and Dr. Asnor Juraiza Ishak to help the new students to understand the study scheme in Electrical & Electronic Engineering Program. The Minggu Perkasa Putra program ended with the “Session with Academic Advisor” slot. Lunch was provided by the PEMAJU.
In conclusion, this program is important especially for the new students to get to know and strengthen the bonds with the academic and technical staffs at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering UPM.
