After breakfast they told us to gathered at 9.30am to start with industrial visit at M/s. India Pistons Limited. Besides, from this industrial visit, the officer was explained about the the process on how to produce piston. At this factory, they used two different method which are robotic line and manual line. They used 10 operation (in the piston) means it have 10 machine to be used. From this process, it will start with melting the aluminum, mould, grooving, dishing, finishing grooving, FOD, and ending with table inspection. Based on the information that are told by the officer, they can produce in range 300-600 pistons a day.

On Friday our 6th days in Chennai, they were bring us to M/s. Amalgamations Repco Limited, 136, NH 5, J Garden, Madhavaram, Chennai. This factory actually produced clutch plate for any vehicle in India. They use the transmission system for this process. From here we can know that the function of clutch plate is to transmit torque, also engaging and disengaging. Besides, the material that have been used was low carbon steel. They also produce two types of plate which are the black one and wooden color. This will overcome the different quality. The officer was told us that they can produced about 1000 to 1500 of clutch plate for one day.

At Marina Beach

For the 7th Day they bring us to the Chennai city to buy some souvenir. Besides, we went to the famous place of saree so that we can buy a lot of saree with the standard price and all of us very satisfied with that.

We buy a lot of saree at the famous place of saree in Chennai

As usual, at 8.30 am all of us took our breakfast and after that, we went to the Mahabalipuram. Along the journey to Mahabalipuram, we were very excited because we can saw the view of village, town and also the highway existing in Chennai. In addition, before we arrived at Mahabalipuram, they bring us to the Tiger Cave Beach. New experience that we can look at their coastal areas and also there are many other sales outlets. We take the opportunity to shoot any picture and keep as a memories.

The Tiger Cave Beach

When finished viewing the Tiger Cave Beach, we proceed to Mahabalipuram. At Mahabalipuram, we saw a lot of areas that have been carved on the stone which is known as a temple for the Indians. This place is famous because it is not only visited by Indians but also tourists from abroad has also been to Mahabalipuram for every carving on the stone shows how smooth their art and attracted the attention of every tourist who comes.

For the 9th day, at 9.00 am, all of us attend the lecture on Environmental Issue by Mr.J.Jaganraj (Asst.Prof.) and Dr.K.R.Aswin Sidhaarth (Asso. Prof.), from Department of Civil Engineering. In this class, we know that environmental Engineering is  actually to finding the solution on how to protect solid, liquid, and also gas for our environment. Besides, as a civil engineer, need to design something that related with environment such as water tank. He also teach us how the process of waste water treatment.

Lecture on Environmental Issue

At 10,30 am we were attended Cosmetic Engineering by Prof. S. Mohan. During this class, we can know how is paradism formed and also the recent advances in photonics. Besides, we also know what is the different between laser that can be use as a surgery and also the laser that can give the negative impact for those that use the laser. Laser technology is getting smaller, cheaper and more wavelength versatile.

Lecture on Cosmetic Engineering

Next, after lunch hour, for the next class is “Indian culture” by Mrs.Gayathri Shekar, Head of Operation, Tharaitiket. This class is very interesting because of we can know the culture of Indian that always followed such as they used kangar/kolam to feeds ant and Tulsi to prevented diseases such as cancer and diabetes.

Lecture on “Indian culture

For the next day, we attended lecture on “Air craft propulsion”, “Mechanics of Machines”, “Numerical Method” and “Statistics”. For each class was held about one hour and half. For class “Air craft population” by Dr.S.Ganeshan (Professor) from department of mechanical Engineering, all of us can learn about jet is actually gas coming out from the nozzle. Besides, he also told us that the function of nozzle is to converting fluids pressure energy into kinetic energy. Other than that, we can know that there are 4 types of jet which are turbo jet engine, turbo prop engine, pulse jet engine and ram jet engine.

Lecture on “Air craft propulsion”, “Mechanics of Machines”, “Numerical Method” and “Statistics”
