2021 IEEE Conference on Advances in Communications, Devices and Systems
(ACDS)


to be held on September 3rd, 2021

This year’s conference theme is “Things that might shock you”. 

The conference will feature a keynote presentation, followed by parallel discussion sessions led by students.

ICL IEEE SB Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math

The Imperial College IEEE Student Branch is delighted to invite you to an event that celebrates the role of female researchers at Imperial, as well as in STEM in general.

Our main speaker is Dr Kristel Fobelets, who is a Reader in Microelectronics, Director of Undergraduate Studies at EEE, and member of the College’s Senate. Her presentation will be followed by a panel discussion with Kate Highnam – EEE Intelligent Systems PhD Rep, Alina-Irina Serban – Chair of the IEEE Student Branch, Olayinka Ayo – Secretary of the IEEE Student Branch, and Priya Chaaya – President of EESoc.

Join us on Friday, 12 March 2021, at 12:00 GMT!

We will have the opportunity to hear from them on various topics related to the role of women in STEM and their experiences at Imperial and in leadership positions. We’d love to hear your thoughts on the topic as well, so please stay for a chat with us and the panellists afterwards.

IEEE conference on Advances in Communications, Devices and Systems (ACDS) – September 10th 2019

We are excited to announce our one day conference, the IEEE conference on Advances in Communications, Devices and Systems (ACDS) that will take place on September 10th 2019 at Imperial College, in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

This is a conference for postgraduate students from all universities, and will feature research presentations for PhD students, to cover various topics related to Electrical and Electronics Engineering, as well as a poster competition for master’s students. There will be prizes for best talks and best poster.

We are also pleased to announce that Professor Sir John Pendry, Chair in Theoretical Solid State Physics from Imperial College Department of Physics, will be the keynote speaker of the conference, giving the talk Capturing the Light on the Nanoscale.

The event will also feature a career fair, so bring your CV and be ready to network, you might find your next employer!

IEEE Symposium – March 20th 2019

The Imperial College IEEE Student Branch is hosting its inaugural event, the IEEE Symposium on Wednesday, 20th of March, from 5:00 to 6:00 PM @ EEE Room 611.

The event features talks by two highly distinguished senior IEEE Members: Dr Peter Harrod who is currently Director of the Functional safety at the CPU group at ARM, and Prof Douglas J. Paul who is an EPSRC Established Quantum Technology Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow. Come for the talks and stay for the free pizza!

Following this, we move over to Simmons Bar, 374 North End road, Fulham – SW6 1LY just in time for their happy hour and a social evening with pool and retro arcade games.

Please, RSVP to this google form by Monday, 18th of March, so we have an idea of the number of attendees for the social event. Those who sign up will be eligible for potentially subsidised drinks and games at the bar (TBC on the day) as we are currently awaiting on funding confirmation.
