Northumbria University IEEE Student Branch in partnership with IEEE hosted a practical and insightful talk by Paul Henriques on “How to boost your career with IEEE” on 3rd October 2017 to celebrate IEEE day.
Paul is the IEEE Client Services Manager for Europe and Africa. Paul works closely with universities to provide training for the IEEE Xplore Digital Library, IEEE publishing sessions for new and early career researchers. Paul previously worked as a patent searcher for the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) where he focused on prior art searching for patent examiners.
The presentation ended with an intellectual exchange between the speaker and the attendees in which the identification of IEEE conferences and sponsorships were discussed in detail.
We had a small quiz session thereafter to involve the participation of attendees more and to have informal interaction amongst the speaker, attendees and organisers. The winners were awarded with the gifts. Finally, in the frame of IEEE day celebration a Pizza treat took place at Habita, Northumbria University.
The event ended on a good note with positive feedback from all the attendees especially Master’s and Undergraduates found the talk beneficial and requested for the presentation slides for future reference.
